3Vader plays VRChat for a living. He goes to two or three events a week, and said they average around 1,000 attendees. 3Vader said it's nearly impossible for VR developers to find an audience because there's currently no mainstream product. He thinks that could change with high-end VR systems like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which use powerful computers and are controlled by a remote.

"It could be that VR turns out to be the next generation of computing that's really important," he said.

VRChat is just one of the games vying for attention, but it's growing fast. A VRChat demo is now on the Google Play store for the Vive. Some of the game's developers plan to turn it into a browser game, but that hasn't happened yet.
