Early Access Review
Vietnam War is absolutely busted, it truly has that Mdickie/Oblivion jank and unintentional comedy embedded in it. The game controls and looks awful but at the same time the systems go quite deep, the war happens automatically and continues as you play, you have to take care of your skills, weapon condition, health, squad and even your own base. The map(s) are absolutely massive, there's north and south Vietnam and neighboring countries, and then there's Hawaii, the mainland US and even part of Canada. This all adds up to create an absolute drug trip of a video game:
-My character went from a humble river patrol soldier to a spec ops elite through the click of a button
-After this I began stealing planes and weapons from both sides of the war for use against the Vietcong but also probably people from neighboring countries and two incidents where I accidentally dropped bombs on a US warship and summoned a B52 bombing run on my own base while it was full of soldiers.
-I had an M60, Colt Python, molotov and machete which were stolen from various US and Vietcong bases
-Somewhere around 200~ kills from doing bombing runs deep in enemy territory, somehow 20 war crimes I think
-Finally I got bored and realized that I could pass my service days by blowing myself up with a molotov and going to the hospital over and over again
-When I finally reached the end of my tour in Vietnam I retired to Hawaii, where I became a rogue fake police officer who ran around in a stolen attack helicopter bombing gangs trying to rob restaurants, raking up a 5 star wanted level
-Fled Hawaii for the Midwest where I ended up getting stuck in another gang shootout in the capital of the state and fled to neighboring states before ending up at knock off Woodstock
-At fake Woodstock my character had a spiritual awakening and I gave up my violent ways and fled North to Manitoba where I finally retired in peace
