This game is already phenomenal as a singleplayer game, but the multiplayer mod adds so much depth that turns it into a masterpiece.

I was playing with my friend and we were running low on food and water. As a last resort, she ate from an unknown can, and suddenly, her pain shot up to 100%, she passed out from shock, and her lungs started shutting down. For the next 30 minutes, I was performing CPR and using every single item in my inventory to try and save her. I used AEDs, manual defibrillators, epenephrin, and a handful of miscellaneous opioids to no avail. It was obvious that I was just delaying the inevitable. I could barely keep her blood oxygen above 50% and I was just slowly watching her go braindead. Towards the end, I just injected her with the last of the opium so she could hopefully have some bearable final moments. I could only watch as her O2, BPM, and brain integrity slowly ticked to 0.

This felt real. This felt like I was actually doing everything in my power to save a life, and because I failed, I was the reason that it faded in my arms. I had to close the game and force myself to breath for a few minutes because I was shaking so bad. I got more adrenaline from this than from all of the roller coasters I've been on in my life combined.

This game is a misery simulator in all the best ways. I've fallen in love with how brutal and unforgiving it is because even when you're on the brink of death, there's that miniscule chance that you'll somehow manage to pull through, so you'll keep fighting until your body won't let you anymore.

Please give this game a shot if you haven't, and try playing with some friends too. Saving a friend's life after they step on a landmine might genuinely be the best high you can get.
