As stated in the developer's description, this game will take you on a journey for an hour and a half. That's it. I understood this before making my purchase.

Now, there are many reviews on here from players stating that this game sparked major revelations in their minds, and I don't want to take that away from them. However, I cannot say the same of my own experience with The Beginner's Guide. The game itself explores themes of loneliness and isolation, and from the beginning it is clear to see that the impact will be heavy...

Except by the end, I was left scratching my head and feeling empty. I felt swindled. I felt as if the story was telling me something that I already knew. In the interest of not spoiling it for people who would like to play this game despite this review and ones similar, I cannot elaborate. Let's just say that if you have already learned some of life's harsh lessons regarding interpersonal relationships, there will be very little new for you to discover here.

TL;DR:
The fire fizzled out before it really had a chance to burn. Give it a miss.

Buy loot for your character, die with it, and then buy more loot for a new character.

If you hate the business model of microtransactions as much as I do, give this game a miss. I will never open my wallet to a company as unscrupulous as Kabam.

Realm of the Mad God was great until they took over. Those days are gone.
