Early Access Review
Love it! The game very closely follows the beats of the original Pokemon games. You start in your mum's house, go to meet the Professor who has you choose one of three Temtem of different types, you battle your 'friend' who is a smug bastard, and then leave your home village to head north through the long grass to the first town, catching Temtem as you go.

After six hours of play I've got a full party of six Temtem plus a few extras in the bank, they're all around level 15-20, I've defeated the first boss, and will now be leveling my team a bit before tackling the first Dojo (gym).

The game runs smoothly, the UI is very polished, the Temtem battles feel balanced and feedback from hits is great - which is more than I can say for a lot of early access games I've played!

Connecting to a massively multiplayer world and seeing other players running around with you is a bit weird, albeit sometimes funny when there's a bunch of you running in circles around the same small patch of grass waiting for a bite. If you're like me and suffer from social anxiety, fear not - you don't have to interact with any other players in order to play the game.

Despite being early access the game feels very complete in terms of playability and existing content. I have found some 'coming soon' areas and these usually present as buildings with 'WIP' signs on the doors, so nothing game-breaking, just placeholders for things still in development.

Most importantly, though - the Temtem are all very cute :D

(P.S. Regarding this kind of garbage - https://twitter.com/sexhomaru/status/1220845161502117889?s=20 - It should be noted that this game did not 'force me to be trans' and is not 'full of trans people'. If you're so fragile that being presented with the mere OPTION of choosing they/them pronouns makes you flee in horror, perhaps what you need is a psychologist (and some compassion), and not a new videogame.)

Transphobic bigots, educate yourselves instead of spewing your vitriol here:

@osutin it took me around 50 hours to finish all of the current content in the game (main quest, side quests, beating all the dojos and catching all available Temtem) - I still have a few Temtem that I need to evolve, and now that I'm done with the content I'm looking into breeding, and also catching and releasing Temtems to get money from the Free Temtem people so that I can buy all the fun outfits ;)

Great review. Transphobes don't deserve nice things. By the by, how is the game in terms of the amount of content? As it's an early access title, I imagine it isn't quite finished, but how many monsters are there to catch etc?

The world of gaming, where insecure people feel secure calling people nig9ers, f6gs and all sorts of hateful nonsense. And in my experience the toxicity is mostly from one race. Go figure.
