This wasn't "great" or anything, but i'll recommend anyway. I played it, so ya'll gotta play it too! It tries to do what Chilla's Art games do so well. Mundane horror. It doesn't really succeed, but, it has it's moments In the end it was still kinda goofy and corny, so, if you like bad movies/b movies, it might be worth checking out.

This game is magnificent. Especially for a game that is literally free. Seriously, if you love horror and weirdness, just shut up and PLAY. It's legit so good and scary and has like zero jump scares. All the spookiness relies on the writing and the weirdness of what is happening and just... noticing that things are.... off. It's SO good. I seriously cannot wait to see what these devs do next.

Do you like Resident Evil 1? Would you enjoy an RE1 experience in a haunted mansion with no zombies, but better puzzles? This game is for you then! But like, seriously, this game is legit good. Not SUPER scary or anything, but... actually, you know what? It is. When I googled the various.... conditions that come up. That ♥♥♥♥ was TERRIFYING. Play this game, and never sleep again...

Oh! I forgot that I never wrote a review of this, upon finishing it! This is a really cool game that still stands up to it's obvious PT influence. It was one of the biggies, back in the day, along with Layers of Fear. And one thing this game had that the other one didn't, as well as the whole slew of other PT-influenced indie horror games was... the obscure and obtuse "puzzles", which was really neat. Okay, so negatives first. It's still janky as heck. Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, it seems unfair with how much sanity damage you take, which will lead to an insta-kill. And sometimes the random spawning "enemy" that will also insta-kill you in unfair. BUT, as long as you make multiple saves when you can, throughout, you'll be fine! I love having this house as kind of a central hub to explore and fine things and solve "puzzles" in between chapters. And then the actual chapters themselves, often taking you to new locations. I loved finding the vhs tapes and figuring out the "puzzle" to find the pieces of the mirror mask. This game is absolutely loaded with amazingly great environmental design and actual scares that they build up. Sometimes it's often a well earned jump scare and sometimes it's just something creepy as heck that makes you sit there and look. It CAN be confusing, because of the obtuse PT-like "puzzles", but I would recommend a walkthrough look before just dropping it, if you're stuck. The two endings are super quick, but still, I think, relatively appropriate for what you do. Well, mostly.... the golden ending, I don't know if all you did was still enough to make up for that character's sins, but you know... VIDEO GAME. It really is cool to have a PT-inspired game that isn't just the hallways and maybe a couple rooms, like they usually are. You have a full ass weirdo maze mansion and then other locations. And then the actual house as a HUB, as if it were an immersive sim game! Super cool! Anyways, minor issues aside, this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocks and if you love horror, you should check this out.

This game is amazing! It's really cool to have a video game version of Pontypool, but with an 80s slasher, instead of the zombies from the movie. Getting to play a game version of it, being at a radio station and using the dialogue options to try to guide people to either survival or death is just great! Slowly getting to explore the radio station throughout was also a blast. And, of course, who could forget... Ponty's Pizza!

I'm personally a bit torn on this. In this end, it's a bit of a mixed bag for me. Some of the added content isn't "the best". I didn't care for the new "wraparound" segments. Some of the added stuff for the Layers 1 story was interesting to experience, but I also didn't care much for the added monster segments in those. But, it looks really nice. The visuals are great, as usual. And a lot of the writing *is* pretty good! And the playing through Layers 2 again was extremely fun. I really dig that one. I'd recommend this for fans of walking sims like these and people who already liked the original. I don't think this release is going to convince those not into it though. Interesting remake/re-imagining though!

Absolutely stellar horror experience from Frictional! Loved it! Not only is it just nice to have a new game from them, but I really felt the terror I remember feeling the first time I played The Dark Descent, but more constant. The randomization is cool and will definitely be welcome with replays. And I loved just the slow push against the outer areas and then trying to beat the generator running out of fuel back, to save and store more items and whatnot. Frictional experimenting with immersive sim elements is something I am absolutely here for. This is great and I cannot wait to see what they do next.

I mean, what can I say? This is a stone cold classic. I've played it on here, on consoles and originally with a hard copy, when it released ages ago. This is one of my favorite horror games of all time, just as Frictional is one of my favorite horror devs of all time. And while, having played this a bunch, it isn't as scary, BUT, it gives me the chance to enjoy the story, try dumb running situations and, of course, enjoy the absolutely stellar sound production. For a first time player, I bet this will still scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of you at parts. The writing is often top notch and also creepy itself and the sound will murder you. And for those returning? It's just... FUN!

This was great! Probably my favorite video game remake. They did a good job staying true to the original, as well as switching things up and adding new stuff on top. Side characters have better writing and are more fleshed out. Just absolutely tops!

Absolutely adore this game. The world building/lore was really cool. Great mix of history and fantasy/myth. The combat, which I know a lot of people are negative toward (being Bloodborne-inspired and what not) was perfectly fine to me. But i'm also not a die hard Souls person. Anyways, it was fine and good to me. The writing was top notch and the characters all pretty great in general. I'm still a bit torn on locking the better endings behind making the game more difficult for yourself. But I get what they were trying to go for with it and can respect it, if it's probably the jankiest part for me. Anyways, regardless of flaws, I loved this game quite a bit and am now officially dying for a sequel!
