In the games current state, I would not recommend it. It is missing a good amount of core features from the first game and I am not talking about stuff food in DLC content. Stuff like cyclists, single platform train stations, bi-direction metro stations, and last but certainly not least... MOD SUPPORT! They just announced today that mods won't be available for months to come. They praised how much more in depth the simulation is within this new game. However, It is missing some stuff I would expect from it. There is no way to make any money off the mail system. Odd that I can't charge users a $1 or so for each piece of mail someone sends. Moreover, the traffic crashes are cool, but I would have also like to see Officers pulling cars over and giving them tickets. Another way to help increase income to the city.

They will no doubt add a bunch of stuff through DLC, but until more is added, you are better off playing Cities Skylines 1. With all the mod support in that game, you can really fine tune your cities.

The simulation has some flaws, the city does not feel as alive as cities skylines one to be honest. I cannot put my finger one way that is. Part of the reason I think is the game is much more fast pace than the first game. How you ask? The constant demand is crazy. I could build a whole subdivision for single family homes and it does not lower the demand at all it seems. Moreover, there are so many complaints about high rent. Does no one actually own their house in the game?

Lastly, performance... It sucks. Once you star building a city and the population grows, you lose FPS badly. One of the recommendations the developer is suggesting is lower the resolution to 1080P. The game does not even have any DLC or mods and performance is so bad users are having to adjust their systems. Fixes need to come in order to ensure players can have an enjoyable experience.

The game is not finished and should not have been released as a finished game, it is simply a beta or alpha. There are so many bugs, just go look at the paradox forum and you will see thousands of bug reports. Out of those, over 350 have been confirmed by the developer.

I think it is dumb that after so long, they are recently requiring me to sign in through epic when I own the game through steam.

The great modding community has allowed this game to be a great game. Just be ready for it to use all of your RAM and processing power if you use a lot of mods. An i7 6700k and 16gb of ram is just cutting it.
