Early Access Review
NOT TRASH.

Due to the early stage of this game, I would rather focus this review on my own experience than proceed with a more formal approach to the game itself. As your fellow trashman, I must tell you if something is trash or not.

Movie Quest and chill

Movie Quest is a game that offers you to create your own experience with it. While it is at an extremely early stage, it shows promise.

All the action happens in a movie theatre, and immediately you can see all the potential this game has to offer.

The gigantic neon ARCADE sign appealed to the gamer in me, and I ended up playing a video game inside the video game. I kept trying to beat my score, and certainly, nobody else's, as I couldn’t score higher than six at flappy happy but
to make a long story short, being the gamer god I am, I got enough tickets to buy a magnificent Horse hat that I am now never removing, no matter the future updates.

I then made my way to the Food section, hoping to buy some popcorn, but realised I could throw it at people, and that’s pretty much what would have happened if I could get any. I got distracted with the Pizza but somehow ended up with an energy drink (just like real life) and started running like the Flash around the theatre.

Karen, the receptionist, sent me to a Maze / Platformer mini-game where I jumped like your professional plumber to speak to a Zombie.

Throughout my discoveries, I genuinely had fun, the people with me had fun, and the experience was pleasant. There are a few quest givers that mostly offer fetching quests and one with a tiny bit of exploration. Nothing groundbreaking in them but entertaining nonetheless.

The idea behind it is simple and extremely effective: log in with or without friends, watch movies together, play at the arcade, and so on.

The movies are all free of use with copyrights that haven’t been claimed/renewed. I went to see the Three Stooges and the Last man on Earth; the sound quality was fantastic, the cinema room itself great, and I only wish I had brought more friends to use the skill I unlocked, which is to scream of horror randomly.

The Game itself

Graphically speaking, the entire universe meshes well together; the characters are all based on a few different models with funny proportions and goofy looking, and it’s perfect this way. There are quite a few clipping issues with different textures, but nothing that was too big of a deal or that made the experience negative.

The gameplay is simple; you can jump, run, crouch, and throw popcorn at others, I saw other props around, and I hope I can grab that toy sword and fight with a few other moviegoers in the future.

The ambience was fantastic; I played Movie Quest with my wife and turned this into a fun date night with her. Bring your friends for more fun, and hopefully, we will be able to play with other random internet people and create meaningful experiences with them. On log-in, there is the option to have your private server, maybe an option for the future that will only enrich the experience further.

In the end...

You get it, Movie Quest is fun, and you get to create that fun. My only regret is that I will have to wait for it to have more content, but at the same time, I am excited to see what SourJ has in store for us.

I am looking forward to keeping this review updated in the future.
