It's like a modernised baby of Resident Evil 4´s gameplay and Silent Hill 2´s atomsphere and story (complete with a wife driven plotline about a creepy town). I didn't really like the first game but most of it's shortcomings are addresed in this one and more.

Exploring in the open levels is really fun, the pacing is amazing, the story is surprisingly entertaining and packs an emotional punch, it's dripping with atomsphere and it's got one of the more memorable climaxes in recent memory.

If you have any affinity for the more action driven Survival Horror games (think Dead Space, RE4) and want to see what a AAA one can do in 2017, don't hesitate to try this one. It's one of my favorite games this year and, sadly, I would have overlooked it if not because of a sale. Don't make that mistake, even if you didn't like the first one.

About 5 minutes into the intro to the game there is a scene involving a dog and no matter what the game crashes to black following that scene.

I've updated my drivers, messed with the settings and tried a bunch of workarounds but no matter what the game crashes. My computer handles every game I throw at it at max settings so the problem is almost definitely not my rig.

Can't reccomend a game you can't play. Really sad seing as how I loved the previous instalment.

Update: NVidia's latest driver update fixed the problem for me. The game has issues but all in all an incredibly entertaining story with really fun characters wrapped in a decent shooter.

Ran fine for the first play session but I can't launch the game anymore. I get the initial loading screen and then a flickering black screen. I´m playing on a brand new PC that meets reccomended requirements. The hour or so I got to play was pretty good. Wait for patches.

Update: I managed to get the game to launch by opening NVIDIA GeoForce experience, selecting the game from there and putting everything at "low". Then launching the game and re-adjust the options in-game. Hope this helps.
