"There are no pay walls or pay-to-win elements." yeah... sure its not pay to win... let me explain
KartRiderRush has WAY better drifting mechanic, they actually felt nice
So now that this game has updated and added the upgrade and balance update here are my thoughts; The games drifting isnt really like a kart racer and isnt the most intuitive, but its fine when you get used to it.
-The base speed and boost are too slow so you cant really chain. They should have buffed the base the boost time and the upgrade just made it faster, so at least default karts would be able to compete, but no, if someone else has an upgraded kart they just win. Not only are they way faster, but most important they can chain boosts because they actually last unlike the default.
This would be fine but it takes very long to grind coins just to only be able to upgrade 1 kart (each kart plays the exact same, so what is the point of this?)
Even worse is you can use real world money (aka K-Coins) to buy High End karts which already have higher upgrades, so its legit just pay to win... The item mode can at least be fun because stats dont matter as much but everyone wants to be competitive. Def the worst part is being able to pay K-Coins for high end karts which automatically get better upgrades.. I wish it was a boost in one stat but have a drawback. it does not.
Emotes are useless

MENU MUSIC AND Garage MUSIC SLAP
I recommend this game for now, its pretty fun, the drift mechanics arent super intuitive for a Kart game tho, I prefer the high control of CTR, but KRD is still fine.
-The daily rewards are pretty pointless because they are just emotes that are just speech bubbles over your character you can only use in menu, so pointless.
-Boost charge is a too slow, You cant always tell what items do, and the tutorial does not teach you well.
-Drifting does not feel right unless I have the assist on it turns more natural,
another problem of this game might have kart upgrades in the future which can be bought with money or grinded (for a long time) with coins.
-Based on previous games, if you can upgrade your turbo gage, this gonna be horrible cuz base charge is so slow an upgrade will have a HUGE advantage
-Kart stat differences are fine because they can be balanced, but upgrades (which they probably will add soon) is a big nono because they have a straight up advantage, it makes it unfair.
"How are you going so fast wow you're so good" "nah they just have an upgraded kart"
Idk how this game could be liked by a big audience if you have to grind for hours to place in high ranks

for now game fun tho

Edit: Needs Steam achievements and split screen. And a better boost mechanic that actually feels faster

Pretty sure Sega removed the Sonic games because they want to try to force you to buy Origins (which is terrible, its so glitchy and overpriced)
but dont buy Origins

This games core gameplay is great (might be one of the best feeling racers next to CTR) The driving mechanics are pretty unique.
You press A/Cross to boost and drift to keep that boost for as long as you can its very fun, there is even grind rails.

The issues come in when you try playing online and its legit unwinnable because other people are way higher leveled (which makes them have better stats)
There is no MXT in the beta, but when the game comes out it will totally be pay to win and not fun at all cuz you pay currency to level up.

Edit: The level ups are flawed because you pay for loot crates to get mats to upgrade, but thats pay to win. It should be like Sonic Transformed where you gain EXP from racing and unlock perks like that
Instead of needing to buy materials, you should only have to buy skins or racers, NOT upgrades to make it fair. if its a free game and they want to make money while still keeping players and not making them rage quit, they should just charge money for Racers and Skins and make EXP gained just by racing and have a lower level cap

Soundtrack is the only good thing.
The team mechanics just feel shoehorned in and feel like they do nothing, items are even more useless.

I knew this game was not very good when it came out. but never bought it because it was overpriced and CTR and transformed exists and they are infinitely better. I bought it for 4 dollars on sale.
Most of these tracks feel bland and are just straight roads, only good tracks are the returning ones and Rooftop run.
This does not feel like a Sonic game. It is way too slow, boosting feels like it does nothing, the team mechanics dont even make you feel part of a team. the characters do not act like themselfs at all.

If you want a good team Kart racer play Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart TSR mod
The only good part of this game is the music and graphics.
Just play any other game just not this. (also online is dead even Transformed has more players)

First of all, Crash bandicoot is my all time favourite Video game franchise ever. So I was very excited about this game back in 2017.

The Good
Its the old games with many improvements with realistic but also cartoony visuals.
It looks exactly how I'd want/expect from an HD version of these classic games.
The game controls relatively well if you get used to the new jumping physics, and if you have not played the classics, you wont even notice.
I actually Think the new jumping is easier (better to turn around mid air compared to OG)
They even took the time to add new animations when you get gems' and Crystals.
Crash 1 is vastly improved
with the new save feature, boxes staying broken when you die after a checkpoint (except the coloured gems) and 360 control)

The Bad
(I wish there was a Music toggle :(
The lighting is pretty hit or miss, sometimes it looks great in Gee Wiz (Crash 3) or sometimes it looks very bad like in the start of Crash 2 levels.
For some reason Coco does not feel like she has full 3D movement like Crash does?
Some models are pretty bad like N. Gins, and baby T Rex looks pretty bad too. Cocos eyes look dead during gameplay but mods can fix that.
Sometimes in Crash 1 you just slide off platforms.

The Mods
Main mod I use is classic / pre console Music
Here are some mods to improve your experience
[https://www.nexusmods.com/crashbandicootnsanetrilogy/mods/27] Classic Crash Colours
[https://www.nexusmods.com/crashbandicootnsanetrilogy/mods/29] Better Coco / Classic Colours
[https://www.nexusmods.com/crashbandicootnsanetrilogy/mods/30] Classic Cortex
[https://thewarproom.com/showthread.php?tid=100] Better baby T, to make him not look garbage
[https://www.nexusmods.com/crashbandicootnsanetrilogy/mods/23] Classic Music and SoundFX
Look on Nexus Mods for more :)
But mods are not required for the game to be good, its still good on its own
