Game has scummy DLC practices, has been getting worse in the games for a while now.

Got this game on a whim in a bundle and it turned out to be one of the best CRPGs I've ever played, definitely in my top 5 at any rate. Game looks really nice, some of the best companions I've ever seen and there's a deep combat system, though there's so many mechanics to take note of and potential classes/subclasses that the character creation in itself will turn a lot of people off.

My issues with the game are pretty minor: navigation in the Act 3 and 4 hub areas can be quite annoying as they're pretty large and there's no 2x speed option for navigation, which is made worse in an act 4 zone as there's a mechanic that means you can't just click on an area on your map for your party to walk there. Luckily, The zone does add fast travel beacons, though they're not there from the beginning so there's still a lot of tedious travel to get through.

The game could also do with a lore codex, pretty standard in many games and seems like a no-brainer considering the extensive lore of the Pathfinder universe, so I'm confused as to why it's not here. After playing BG3 I also wish for more racial and class dialogue options, so hopefully we'll see some of that in the next game.

Pretty fun, I didn't play a lot of the release version but the new update seems to have greatly improved things

As it's a 1 man dev project for the most part it's less polished than Sunless Sea/Skies which means it can be pretty buggy and the overworld isn't very fun to explore, but the writing is great and the world is well realised with lots of different factions at play and interesting locations. The game must have at least 100 quests and basically all of them are interesting, so well worth buying if you've played the Sunless games and are looking for something similar.

Very grindy with some pretty mediocre gameplay but one of the most compelling worlds in gaming. If you value good writing above most other elements in games this is a must buy. Zubmariner DLC is essential & I'd recommend looking up the easy mode mod that increases cargo for all ships and move speed amongst other minor things, will make the early game more bearable.

Great trading sim/exploration game with a wealth of customisation options and variety in playstyles. Some reviews are being critical of this game for having large portions of the map inaccessible, and when I realised this I was admittedly disappointed to begin with as there's some fascinating areas mentioned that you simply won't get to see. To be fair to the devs there's easily over 100 hours of content with dozens of areas of interest already here and it's not like they ever lied about what would/wouldn't be available. There are also strict lore reasons for why some areas will never be explored without some major changes to the game.

I've seen suggestions of shading unexplorable areas in the map and I agree that greater steps could be taken for the sake of transparency, but the "missing" zones should definitely not be a dealbreaker when most likely won't get through all the quests already available.
