I’ve been playing this since almost the very beginning. It has evolved so much over the last few years. There have been lots of ups and downs. I’ve met tons of people through this game and even have built a small community.

• Arguably the best shooting mechanics around.
  
• Went from basic movement to now having vaulting and ledge grabbing. These don’t necessarily always work the way you intend.
  
• The game can run badly so it is common to reduce the fancy looks for smoother game play.
  
• Audio sounds great but has had serious bugs.
  
• Best battle royale but the ups and downs have scared many away, rightfully so.
  
• There are hackers, cheaters, etc.
  
• Most maps out of any of the battle royales.
  
• There is little to no story for this game. They are trying to add some story elements in. However, the choose your own adventure style of the game has the ability to create memorable moments nearly every game (assuming you don’t jump school every game.)
  
• Queue times can be an issue depending on region.

This game is hard for me to review because I’ve seen so much change over the years. Some that watch it may say it looks janky but with so much time played it doesn’t feel that way to me. When this game works it's the best game around.

11/23/2023 Update

PUBG has grown significantly since I originally wrote this review. I stand by the style of battle royale that it is. There are still adding maps, added clans, updated comeback mechanics, added guns, and just generally trying new things out. It still tries to stick to the old formula while trying to bring in some of the expected gameplay mechanics that you see in other BR games. The learning curve is brutal, the devs have plenty to work on, and things to figure out. I still highly recommend this as the best BR around. It's free now a days, give it a try.
