Spent an hour on a run, and got all the way to winter. Final boss shows up, things aren't looking too good, but at least it's the end. After all, if you kill the boss it goes to the next part, so all I need to do is kill him. One by one, my towers fall, and snow replaces where they were so I can't build them back up, and I'm forced into having to rely on spells. A few rolls fail, but that's not a big problem, because he's already at like 25 HP. I use a powder keg, knock him down to 5, and feel like I've finally won, like it's finally the end of the year. I use a final strike to bring him to 0 HP and win... and then it turns out he has a second phase. 10/10, would cry again.

The levels vary from 'really cool level with like this shadow gimmick where you can't see yourself sometimes but like in a cool and music themed way' to 'I'm in an elevator. also this is expert+', and I don't know which is better. Feel like making your own level because you've played them all, or couldn't find one with this really good song scratching your brain? As long as the artist is okay with it, go ahead and try making it (for 3 minutes before giving up because you can't focus with said good song playing one three second part on repeat because the level is SLIGHTLY off sync)! Can't wait for the official campaign.

Honestly, really fun. Now, I haven't played this with any friends yet, but simply in the waves mode alone you can tell how much work must have been put into this. Every weapon feels powerful, albeit some more than others (ahem, big red lazer), the upgrades are so minor yet so strong at the same time, and things you wouldn't normally think of doing are just so viable. Some neat little details I've noticed: If you throw your weapon and then hold the grab button while it's in mid-air, it'll come flying back to you (makes for some really cool but like way too risky sword throwing plays, and allows you to redirect grenades onto oncoming enemies), in anti-gravity stages the Big Red Screw You lazer (and probably other weapons) give you a lot of richochet. Don't use them without a wall behind you. Finally, enemies occasionally can hit each other on accident.

All in all, really good game, wish that the phase swords weren't the only weapons with weapon-specific upgrades but like I understand why they have them. Considering this is enough for a full game on it's own, and this is just a PLAYTEST when I'm writing this, I can't wait to see what else they add in. 10/10, online multiplayer in the full release please.

This is just so worth it. The content in the mods can bring you triple the experience of base terraria (which is already amazing on it's own), and although as of now the main mod support is still pre-1.4, the quality of life and features mods can bring would easily make it worth it anyway if it did have a price tag.

I can't really explain all of the details that make me like this game, simply because I'd rather not start a book series in a Steam comment section, but I will say these four simple things. You get a large sense of progress in this game as you, well, progress, the bosses are fun to fight and master, there are 4 different gamemodes based on your mastery, and the prince slime pet.

Basically, if you don't take anything else from this review, know that it's a really great game.
