Early Access Review
I have had the delightful experience of playing Cards and Tankards, unfortunately I have had the extremely lacking experience of dealing with both Emrys, a developer and AmethystCash, a moderator. The game itself is very fun, it is exactly as I would imagine playing cards in a Tavern full of children would be. It's very simple yet time goes by extremely fast in the game, my qualms here are not with the game and if this review were purely for the game, it would be a 10/10. However, I come here to leave a negative review because of my negative experiences with two of the members of the community that I feel are in a position to best represent the community because of their status in the community. The following conversations speak for what happened and my experiences in my second day on Cards and Tankards. Conversation with AmethystCash (Moderator) : https://imgur.com/a/oDnlAsh | Conversation with Emrys (Lead Developer) : https://imgur.com/a/dTLonPI - I hope in these screenshots and conversations you can get a better look into some of the heads of the community. I can not speak for all Moderators or all Developers, but these two poorly represent the amazing community of non-moderators and non-developers I met in game. I am allowing comments on this as Emrys seemed very adamant on commenting on my post.

You abused our reporting system by reporting a player for not giving you real world money for a tankard, which is a free in game item. You were trolling players, and ignored a mod when they asked you to stop. That warranted a ban. I'm sorry if you felt you had a bad interaction afterwards, perhaps we got a bit frustrated and didn't handle it well afterwards, but the ban was entirely valid.

Absolute comedy gold. Good job mods.

LOL WHAT AM I READING

You genuinely think you are in the right? No, you're not, you're so wrong it's funny.
You reported someone for not paying you for an ingame prop and think you're not trolling?

This has to be in the top 10 worst reviews I have read in my long time using steam.
The review system is for reviewing the game, not the devs/mods. And even if it were for reviewing interactions with mods, you were clearly in the wrong.

Hello Frost,

As per my last comments, I was in fact selling drinks for IRL money and made that clear before I would sell someone a drink. All players requesting a drink were made aware of this and I made $327.32 before I was banned because the player refused to pay for too many drinks. The act of me even having to be banned for basically being a glorified tavern wench is blasphemous. I was not banned for either of these reasons however, I was banned because the moderator who handled the situation felt I did not accept his made up rules. I still do not accept these made up rules and will go back to being a tavern wench soon.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter, Weiner Fart

P.S. - If I see you in game, I will refuse you service.
P.S.S. - I'm glad that you think the ban is BS. Thanks for your support. :blockmongler:

Saw this and at first thought you got banned for joking that you wanted someone to pay irl for a drink in game, which if that had been the case I would have agreed that the ban is BS but the fact you then took it past a joke and reported someone for not giving your money, yeah you deserve that ban

Holy bleep, dude! :steamfacepalm:

You actually thought that you were in the right on this one? Enough so that you provided the full transcripts of your meltdown? You tried to get someone to pay you real money for what they did playing with you in someone else's game, reported them to the mods for not doing it, and then argued with the mods that they should be morally obligated to help you scam people because their TOS doesn't explicitly forbid it. This is some max-level Karen behaviour, and the devs were still willing to let you off with only a one-day ban.

I'd rate this review as helpful for showing that the staff are actually quite fair and reasonable, even in the face of exceptionally unreasonable people, but I don't want someone too lazy to follow the links seeing this, and only seeing your side of the story!

May we have developer imposed Tavern Leaders, who keep the peace of taverns and also rule over them like gym leaders?

I think you might be confused on what a moderators job is. It's not to beat players in a game, it's to resolve conflict and maintain our great community. We do not choose moderators based on their ability to be the best at the game.

Hello HyperPT,

Yes, given the context of the situation where the staff member was laughing and having a good time in game, I thought it would be funny to challenge them to a duel. Second to that, there is nowhere in the rules where it states I can not roleplay as a Waiter and demand IRL money for drinks. If a moderator could not beat me in the game they moderate, do they really deserve to be in a position of power? That's like saying if Gym Leaders don't consistently beat trainers trying to get the badge from them, they should stay a Gym Leader despite being weak.

- Love, Weiner Fart

Wait dude! this is priceless:
" I disagreed, debated with them, then challenged them to a duel to work it out"

So if i play a game with the game devs on any game and win, i can change the rules?
