Overall fun and not terribly hard to learn, but it needs a lot of work to justify the current price. Overall I would still recommend with some discretion

I jumped in having never played wargame or steal division and had absolutely no idea what to do. I learned mostly from youtube videos and jumping into multiplayer and being lucky enough to get some cool guys that told me enough of the basics and even sent me a few custom decks they had made. I definitely recommend trying to learn which units are good and how to use them and create your own decks. I don't think the default ones are very good.

There is definitely a meta but but also some freedom to kind of play how you want. The big issue I'm finding with this game is the population. Never seen more than 350 players online and even then it's still hard to find a game that will actually start because the official servers are all 10v10 for some weird reason and people constantly join and leave. $40 is also incredibly overpriced for where it's at, try to get it on sale or something. I think it absolutely has potential
