Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships (originally titled Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships) is one of my favourite games of all time, inside and outside Steam!
It's been 10 years since I first played this game and I probably have over a thousand hours spent on it, and now that the developers launched it on steam, I can finally own it on my favourite platform!

City of Abandoned Ships is a game that occurs in 17th century, on the Caribbean. You can do basically whatever you want, whether you want to become a pirate or a privateer and conquer cities under your nation's name or your own name. You can do a thousand things on this game and the amount of content to explore is incredible, it took me so many years to figure out everything and I probably am still missing on one detail or another! What I like to do the most in CoAS is to do unique missions, nation questlines and capture colonies under the name of the nation I represent.

Besides doing whatever you want, you can also do missions. There are small and repetitive missions and unique, big and important quests which you can only do once but they are rewarding. You can also obtain a letter of marque of a specific nation and fight under that nation's name and complete its unique questline.

There are four nations in this game: England, Spain, France and Holland. Pirates are seen as a faction instead but they cannot put a bounty on your head. You have a relation/reputation for each nation, which can increase or decrease depending on your deeds.

This game is old and I recommend you to modify the files or even use mods (in my case I play without mods but I added my own songs to get rid of the repetitive soundtrack).

Note that this game is very complex for beginners and isn't beginner-friendly at all. I recommend you to google everything you do and don't do.
