Delivering pizza in style.

Story:

You play as Gemma. She works at her father's pizza place as a delivery person. In this particular future mega corporations have taken over and the poor have move to the roofs of skyscrapers and as Gemma you navigate this capitalistic nightmare while battling other teenagers and teen things.

Yeah the story of Ninja Pizza Girls is overall not particularly interesting or even that amazing. Overall it's just a string of random deliveries that have some comedic storyline and there's an overall storyline that keeps advancing, but it's not overly interesting and is in fact quite tedious with it's pacing.

Graphics:

Visually Ninja Pizza Girl looks rather poor. I don't want to drag the game too much, but overall the environments aren't too interesting for the sort of neon cyberpunk aesthetic they were going for and the hand drawn portraits and other hand drawn objects just look rather crude in their very simplistic design.

I do like the muted neon colors, they actually help out the environments from looking fully ugly, but I'd rather wish they designed more varied environments instead of the same looking things over and over and that makes certain levels painful because you might not know if you're heading in the right direction.

Audio:

The audio design is probably the least interesting thing in this game, because there's only a few different music tracks and they're all pretty generic techno/dubstep songs that aren't particularly good. There's not much other audio design in the game, maybe a few special sound effects when interacting or performing actions, but that's about it really.

Gameplay:

Ninja Pizza Girl is a 2D parkour game, where your main goal is to go from A to B in the fastest possible time as you have a limited time to reach your target. So I'm a big fan of parkour in games and of course one of the two best parkour games on the market are Dying Light and Mirrors Edge and Ninja Pizza Girl really reminds me of the mobile version of Mirror's Edge, just not as good.

The gameplay itself works fine and is pretty decent for the most part as the levels are designed in a way to help you keep momentum and it's really satisfying reaching the end of the level in one really clean run, however the more you play the more controls and the gameplay itself really starts sticking out.

The biggest problem is the level design which for the most part is designed in a way where you're just not going to be able to react in time with your jumps and where you need to go, you'll just sort of fall off and start losing time to recover and start heading in the right direction. Also there's quite a lot of obstruction that will kill your momentum.

This all could be fixed with the camera being pulled back slightly so you would see more of your environments, but it's so close up that it just makes the entire experience more janky than it needs to me. The whole sense of parkour is that you see where you need to head next and when that is taken away, it becomes unfun. Not to mention some items just blend into the background and you have to remember what you can use to jump off and what's just there for visual flair.

Verdict:

Ninja Pizza Girl is a fun game overall, but there's just so many rough edges that I can't really recommend this game for the full price. If you played the countless 2D Parkour games available on the market, you'll probably enjoy this, but I suggest waiting for a sale before taking a plunge with this one.

Final Rating:
6/10

Pros:
+ Fun gameplay
+ Color scheme makes the world at least decent looking

Cons:
- Level design sucks
- Soundtrack is incredibly mediocre
- Story is very bland
