Jam some data.

Story:

There's not much of a story in Data Jammers, you're basically an elite commando tasked with infiltrating few different worlds and eliminate something called the system. That's about the basic gist, you get a briefing before each mission, but it's nothing interesting and it's kind of a pointless addition considering it's a heavy gameplay themed game.

Graphics:

Visually Data Jammers is a very similar game to Audiosurf, where you're on a lane esque grid and you pass a few different types of items, etc. It's a simple looking game, models are simplistic, environments are simplistic as well and it's just overall bland ? Yeah let's go with bland. It's also a very rapid game so, visually you're always overwhelmed and there's a bunch of fluff items which just makes it a pain to keep track of everything you pass by,

Audio:

The audio design sucks, across the board. I'll start off with sound effects, which just sound like a bunch of droning noises, it's just an attack on your senses and I just hated pretty much everything, as soon as the main menu loads up and you just hear the so called effects, it just made me dread the entire experience. While in the game it's not as bad, but it's still very annoying, everything sounds like it was made to be annoying on purpose.

The soundtrack itself is fine, but nothing interesting and pretty much forgettable. The tracks are fine for the background noise, but all of it is just bland that by the time and everything just blends and becomes just noise, which is just disappointing cause it could have had a really bumping soundtrack, considering it's techno theme.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is pretty simplistic. In Data Jammers you are placed on a lane and constantly moving forward you just collect points to rack up your score, collect bombs and shields and try to avoid enemies. It's very easy to pick up and for the most part it's fun, but I just found it to be incredibly boring by the time I got to the final few levels.

There's also a few boss fights once you reach the end of the specific part of the world and the bosses themselves are the only thing that provides a challenge and even then I didn't find the game to be all too challenging even with the boss fights. There are times when you have cheap deaths, because you can't react in time, cause everything moves at a lighting pace.

I did like the whole go fast and avoid enemies gameplay for a the first few levels, but with 15 levels in total, I grew tired of the formula by the end of the first chapter. Even though it takes under an hour to finish, there's nothing too interesting in the game to keep you playing, past that.

Verdict:

Data Jammers: FastForward is a very bland experience that has some cool ideas, but overall just doesn't doo anything too interesting. By the time I got the end I was glad the experience was over and even with though it's currently free, I really don't feel like it's worth experiencing.

Final Rating:
4/10

Pros:
+ Gameplay is fun for a bit
+ Boss fights are pretty fun

Cons:
- Audio design sucks
- Visually pretty bland
- Gets boring incredibly fast
- Too many things going on, makes it hard to follow the action
