I haven't been so completely overwhelmed by the scope of a game in years. This feels like the kind of thing that would only exist in fantasies or executed in a super underwhelming way, but this fully delivers on its promises in ways that consistently blow my mind. It isn't even just its scope that's amazing to me, the world and its mystery hooks are some of the most engaging I've witnessed from either writer here. Your own feelings on the cast might depend on how you feel about Kodaka's polarizing writing style but as someone who personally finds it really charming, I adore this cast a ton. There aren't any weak links here like there are in Kodaka's other casts (even V3 had a stinker despite how much I adore that game's cast) and some of the game's best have ascended to some of my favorites that Kodaka's ever made. (Kyoshika my beloved chuunii samurai girlfail) Without any hint of exaggeration I firmly believe that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
