Highly recommend. One of the best games I've ever played. I will say, referencing a guide/wiki is almost required to make this game palatable.

When I first picked this game up, I absolutely hated it. I thought it was a typical hack and slash. I quickly found out that it was not, however, I still didn't respect the mechanics which caused me quit it for years in anger.

Coming back to it much later, I realize that it's truly a work of art. I have definitely learned to appreciate it and respect the mechanics. DS is a hard lesson learned in patience, strategy and anger management. Once you can understand that, you can really start to love it. It's an absolute work of art, with probably the most ingenuitive map design I've ever played.

In Remastered, they streamlined the co-op functionality to make it easy to enjoy with friends. Playing this game with a partner makes it even better, especially if you're building complimentary classes.

The art direction, lore, character design, item variety, story line, gameplay mechanics and boss engagements are truly daring. I had never played anything like it before its release. It's a genre-defining title for a reason. Definitely a must play for RPG gamers who want to taste a canonical piece of history with limitless replay value.
