I wanna try to like this game. Played it since the early days on and off.

Used to have this negative review because of the map bug, but that's fixed.
Now, reviewing this as a solo player queuing with randoms, this game will kill your sanity.

Inherently un-fun to queue with people missing an indeterminate amount of chromosomes while going against corner/bush campers with shotguns/melee, or getting one-tapped by high velocity snipers.

Just, an abusive game you can never escape from. Don't make my mistake, get out while you still can.

A game tagged as Horror shouldn't be this painfully boring.
I get that this game probably has a slow-burn narrative that really delves into interesting topics, but I can't stomach pushing myself through to learn it by playing a walking sim 'horror' game like this.
What sealed it for me was the 'climactic encounter' in Chapter 1. The chase segment broke twice and sent me flying out of bounds, and the 'fight' segment broke twice after I trotted through painfully dull chases to hit three record players, only for the control panel to do nothing both times.
Also, the entire segment had its atmosphere completely neutered by this wildly bombastic, high-energy track that took me even further out of the experience than I already was.

I'm sure the game has merits, but for me, I really, really cannot say I enjoyed this game.

Resident Evil 3 is the latest of remakes for the classic games, treating them to a fresh coat of paint for the current generation. The Resident Evil 2 Remake revitalised the hype for the series, but does the current game hold up?

...Yes. Ohhh dear goodness yes it does. (In my opinion.)

Pros:

Visuals: Every single segment of the game looks absolutely incredible, the attention to detail was truly bumped up from the prior game, and it was surprisingly extremely smooth to run. Not a single graphic-related issue occurred, which is a welcome change from the usual gaming habits of "Release a game, then patch it to finality." Every set piece looks stunning, and the character models look more real than ever before seen, from my experience.

Gameplay: The gameplay is more of the same from it's predecessor, but it feels surprisingly fresh this time around with the addition of dodging. Usually, if you time it decently enough, a sidestep or backwards dodge will save you from a lunging zombie's strike, but if you time it at the very last moment, another new mechanic shows in the form of Perfect Dodges. Pulling these off not only has your character dodge faster, but aiming with your weapon will slow time down to allow you to deal some immediate reprisal damage. It's tricky to pull off, but boy is it ever satisfying when you time it just right.

Map Design: Compared to the usually claustrophobic halls of the Racoon City Police Department, having to survive out in the open streets amidst the rampant chaos makes you truly feel a sense of overwhelming odds. You feel like everything is out to get you, from the initial threat of the zombies, to the ever looming presence of Nemesis hunting you with unrelenting zeal. However, it never feels like it's unfairly laid out, enemy placements are fair, if sometimes a bit startlingly compact at times. Careful consideration of your surroundings is a must.

Not-So-Pros:

Campaign Length: Compared to RE2, RE3 has only one campaign with no different paths to take, and with how generally fast-paced the story progression is, the entire experience feels surprising short in spite of everything that bars you from the end. As always, there is a time-attack factor to consider with rankings, so it was designed with realistic, but difficult goals, but it somewhat feels like that's the initial mindset rather than the foreboding dread of your next encounter.

There are some things I'm not covering like the records challenges or the shop which works with currency you earn from said record challenges, but that's mainly for repeat playthroughs. In spite of how seemingly short it may appear, Resident Evil 3 offers an almost unparalleled adrenal high throughout the game's story. There's no pace-breaking segments, leaving me with nothing but praise for it.

Overall, I'd rate the experience 9/10, I absolutely love near everything about it, and I cannot recommend it enough.

(P.S. You also get an entirely extra game in Resident Evil Resistance, so, get your money's worth, I suppose.)

Lots of death strangely adds up to lots of fun.
