Early Access Review
in short; this game is awesome. buy it. p-rank ultrakill. 10/10.

as for a more detailed review, well, i could write about how much i love this game for hours and probably never finish (tested and proven, im awful). from the art of the game, to the gameplay, to the lore, and even the fandom, i love every bit of this game.

GAMEPLAY:
playing this makes me feel like my brain is getting pleasantly scratched. i love the movement i feel so FAST. and learning movement techs and new things i can parry is so fun. even if levels/enemy spawns are the same, this game still has tremendous replay value, whether it's wanting to beat your friend's scores or trying to use different weapons, or even just playing it again because, ♥♥♥♥ it, why not? as an added plus, as someone who's pretty much known as the friend who gets carried in all video games, ultrakill was one: a pretty easy game to start and learn and two: you get addicted to it so badly than you end up getting good and beating your friends. feels good, man. also, who doesn't think being a robot that destroys demons for blood is dope asf?

STORY/LORE:
i feel like the lore isn't talked about a lot for this game. i'm sure a lot of people just aren't interested in the lore of a game thats "oh yeah move fast kill fast, speedrun this ♥♥♥♥!" or some people think it's a bummer, but i personally love the lore. i don't wanna be like, "ughh oh my god ultrakill is so deep, you'd never get it..." because it really isn't, but the lore is just so interesting to me. being an atheist from a catholic family and growing up practicing, i connect with the lore pretty strongly. the way god and heaven and hell are conceptualized in this game and some of my views on these things connect with how they're portrayed. not only this, but after reading up on some lore and watching lore rundowns (if you'd like to listen to one, i recommend aydin_makes_things' video on youtube.) has genuinely made me think about religion and my faith and understand myself and my views a little more than "i just think this way." i'm sure for people who are religious, will find the lore interesting, too. added plus of liking the lore, everyone who knows me knows that i have a scary obsession with gabriel. i started off like everyone else; hot, angry angel i wanna bang. that hasn't gone away but now i appreciate him on a deeper level after hyper analyzing him and reading everything about him like a geek. ALSO, the writing is epic. whether it's on the terminal or it's off books you pick up in certain levels, it's genuinely interesting to read (my personal favorites are the testaments in secret levels. just so cool), and so many lines in this game are memorable and impactful even without voice acting. (and with voice acting!!! i heart gianni matragrano!!!)

other things!
i think that it's worth mentioning the fandom for this game. usually i hate interacting with the fandoms of things that i like, mostly because they SUCK. but this fandom is actually so sweet. so many talented artists and funny people, and its honestly rare to find a fellow fan of this game who's rude. everyone is just so, so, so, so nice and i feel SOO welcomed.
oh yeah, also hakita is epic for making a dope game and a lot of the music from it. both him and marzuku made straight heat for this game - the soundtrack is 100% a thing to be appreciated.

i gotta thank my friend for showing me this game, it's become very important to me which feels kind of silly to say since it's just a currently-unfinished-boomer-shooter-bright-lights-in-your-face sort of game, but i love it so much. it's comforting.

it's simple. buy ultrakill. and i hope you love it as much as i do.
