looting and leveling
is what a game has got to have
so this game
is a 10/10

Jokes aside though, I was pretty confident I would love Remnant 2 because the first was already one of my favourite games. The endless repetition that this third person shooter-roleplaying game offers with it's randomly generated campaigns and adventures is what keeps me coming back for more. Gotta collect all the stuff, find all the items, craft all the guns and equipment.
One big change from the first game is that armor no longer provides set-bonuses, which was a big deal in the first Remnant. Now you have proper classes, called Archetypes, that you level up and enhance to grant you powerful abilities and adjust your character's abilities to whatever playstyle you desire. This is especially fun for someone like me, who loves to try out different combinations of Archetypes to find which work well together.
The game also has some absolutely lovely little secrets, puzzles and hidden things to find. Something that might seem innocuous first can turn out to be important later. Put on the necklace of the entity on the statue and the statue might come to life, a character might react differently if you wear a ring that belonged to someone they know. There is a level of attention to detail in this game that I simply cannot praise enough.

What surprised me was that I also genuinely enjoyed the stories the game tells. The overarching story is a bit of an excuse to travel the multiverse, yes, but the stories you find there are really cool. From the small stories of a character you meet only for an event to the tragic backstory of the boss you end up fighting (or maybe not fighting?), I was actually very engaged!

All in all I can just say: kudos, Gunfire Games. At this point I can safely admit that I am more than just enjoying your games, I am genuinely a fan of your work. I cannot wait to see where the journey for Remnant will go next!
