What worked?
The naturally occurring events combined with multiple players can provide some thrilling gameplay also multiplayer generally works without any major problems.

What didn't? A summary:
- get owned by enemy without any chances of escaping
- commute for hours only to dig a chest or kill a skelly
- bosses are bullet sponges with no special mechanics
- burn ludicrous ammount of time on "QUESTS", delivering and digging out items
- farm for hours to earn differently colored peace of garbage

Small side note: Want to play with more than 4 friends - You can't :)
Want to escape from a experienced crew - You can't :)
Want to hunt down a crew? - They can zone out to a different server and you can only watch :)
Want to progress your character? - Sure, if you want a new pair of socks and a bucket :)

A mindless, plastic husk of a pirate game. You row your boat in a line for hours and get hunted down by some 30khrs lunatics or cheaters only to get a sad looking skin. A peak of multiplayer game design, a mountain of grind and timewasting with no real progression.

If you want to separate your skin from the bone using a volcanic rock doing repetetive stuff like a drone, only to get a 3D model with a hue, this is a game for you. I bid you good luck on your EpIc PiRaTe jOuRnEy to get your number up to 100. Yarr!

First game with sand based economy, love it.
