As a life long fan of the Aliens franchise, I can say that I have really enjoyed this game so far.
It does a great job at capturing the feeling of the second movie Aliens, and later on it delves into some of the newer lore.

Gameplay consists of moving to objectives and then holding them against waves of enemies. It doesn't deviate from this format often, but it works well. I've found that as I get used to the current threat and become comfortable, the game changes something or adds something new and it makes you adjust your tactics.
A bit of character progression and customisation keeps it interesting between sessions, and each of the classes play really nicely when working with other people.

It's a solid game to play with friends, and I am keen to see what Cold Iron add to it down the track.

I'm going to use a comment I used to explain the situation to another user as my review.

"Imagine you want to buy a car, but they have to assemble it for you first. They give it a body, an engine, some seats and that's it. They tell you to wait for the rest while they make it. So now you've got a car that doesn't do 100% what it's intended to do. You can get in it, you can turn it on and you can listen to the radio... But you can't drive it. There aren't any wheels!
Now imagine the people who made you the car said "Hey, we have these cool seat covers for your car, we just want $20 for them!"
How would you feel? Would you buy the seat covers? Or would you question why they were making seat covers for your car, instead of finishing the actual car first?"

Honestly, I think what the developers have done is disrespectful to their current player base. I wasn't a huge fan of the game to begin with, but as a developer myself I can appreciate the work that goes into a game. This game has some nice visuals and interesting mechanics, despite being fairly unoptimised.
That being said, I can't recommend this game based purely off of this action, it's the sign of a greedy developer.

EDIT: Fixed a typo

Overgrowth is still in development, and may be for some time.
This doesn't stop it from being one of the better games I have purchased this year. The combat mechanics are beyond amazing, and you'll find youself spending hours playing with them, and mastering them.
There is also the nice thought that there is more to come, and a good amount of player created content means this game will be relevant for years to come.

Pick it up, give it a whirl and support an amazing work of art!

Edit: Still enjoy this game, although not as much as the price would warrant.
I am aware that the developer is working on a new update and is going to flood us with new content, instead of small updates with minimal content. A new person has also been hired, from what I hear. So I would suggest still supporting the dev as I feel this is a great game and there's plenty to look forward to.
