I'm ten hours in. New mechanics are still being constantly unlocked. I can just see the start of many different paths and endings. The game tells me I'm basically still playing the tutorial. Looking at the achivements, I realise there's a whole list of different routes I could have taken already.

It's hard to describe the game prescicely as it mixes so many genres into a single coherent whole. The RPG mechanics of Citizen Sleeper or Cyber Knights are mixed in with mixed unit tactical combat in a persistent map mixed in with 4X progression mixed in with some excellent writing and worldbuilding.

If you played Fantasy Life as a kid, this delivers a modern version you can play on PC. The story isn't that much, but still enough to be engaging, and doesn't demand you level too hard. There's extensive endgame content if you want to keep playing after the story is done.

This could have been a board game, and for much of this games audience (myself included) that's a selling point. It's hard not to compare this to Cultist Simulator, but it's simpler and far less obtuse, which made it much more enjoyable for me. It's a little formulaic, leaving me very hopeful for a sequel that adds a bit more complexity and variance to the game mechanics.

Not a moment in this game hasn't felt like a scene from an action movie.

Really fun card based RPG held back by a painful real-time combat component.
