I did not expect to like this game so much, a board game with CCG-style deck building and a little dice-based PVP. Best when played against human opponents bantering in in-game chat. Not so great with the game's AI opponents which make many mistakes.

Everyone's decks get shuffled together into a pile all players draw from, so deckbuilding involves including cards that will benefit your character more than they will help other players. (This also means that if you don't get the DLCs increasing the pool of cards you may build your deck from, you'll still be able to play with the DLC cards your opponents bring to the table.)

The game mechanics allow big late-game reversals of fortune, so a skilled or lucky opponent can often find a opportunity to come back from behind. Often ends in a race to the finish with other players ganging up on whoever's closest to victory so that they don't win first.

Game developer Orange Juice pays attention to its players and actively tweaks things in updates to improve game balance. They also continually add new characters to the game via cheap DLCs, which seems to be their model for funding their continued development. While the DLCs aren't necessary to enjoy the game, achievement hunters may be annoyed that every time they add a new character DLC, they add new achievements that can only be obtained using the DLC characters.

If you like CCGs and board games, give the demo a try.
