8 Bit adventure 2's release been sandwitched between Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars definitively didn't help it shine bright enough to get the attention it truly deserves.

This is a very charming and well-written jrpg. A pleasure to play from start to finish. Easily in my top 5 jrpgs I've played this year.

A 2 hours mini visual novel / puzzle game with a really appealing chibi-esque aesthetic and cool 8-bit inspired music where you unlock "character behaviors" as you play that you can toggle "on" and "off" as you experiment with the multiple "bad endings" of the game.

With the very limited number of choices availables, unlocking all the endings looks like more
like crossing items from a checklist than my idea of fun. I passed more time pressing "skip" than "A".

Still, the game is cute and charming and entertaining enough for an hour or two. I recommend a guide for unlocking the couple of endings that will probably still elude you after that time.

Btw, the game is certified for Steam Deck but you need to play it in desktop mode. How Valve can considered that as "Verified" is beyond me.

A good entertainment for a cozy afternoon but nothing more 7/10

Beacon Pines is a 6 hours adventure / visual novel with a presentation that oozes charm. It hides the linearity inherent to most games of its type with a clever "charms" system ; branching paths unlocked progressively by "words" you discover during your adventure.

The story is well-written and touching. The "universe inside a book" theme is well exploited and adds a certain flair and originality to the narration.

I wished the game was longer but what is here is top-notch.

8/10

A 12 hours, fully voiced in english, mostly kinetic, visual novel (only 3 choices) with great music, presentation and concept but with writing of mixed quality. By that I mean the plot is full of holes and you need a heavy dose of suspension of disbelief to enjoy it (Tokyo police needs to be the worst in the world for the plot to work).

Despite the plot, the characters and the narrative are well written, especially Noriko, the main character. The themes in the game are interesting and well presented for the most part.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Corpse factory despite its shortcomings.

Recommended for VN enthusiasts 7/10.

What I liked the most about this game's story is that the protagonist is unapologetically abusing his mind control power to get off and has no qualms about it. He is a straight shooter ;)

The mc portrayed is mostly of the "oblivious to changes" kind which is what I prefer. You do have some nc at the start and briefly at the end of the game but (gladly) it is relatively tame.

If you have a major mc kink like me you should get this game asap. It also involves some tasty work related freeuse and petplay scenes which are my favorites in the game.

It's like Alien Soldier but in a 30s cartoon. I can't wait for the dlc next year!
