Definitely a must play. The combat is fun and making new builds is very in-depth. Art is nice, the limited 3D is very charming in this game.

It is very clearly similar to pokemon, but it's also comparable to SMT/Persona: friendship mechanics, 8 moves total, passives. stat changes being temporary, etc. Definitely it's own thing though.

The story is nice but sometimes it feels like its trying too hard to make sure you get what the writers were going for. Nuance is kinda not there for some storylines (Landkeepers) and some companions frequently state the obvious, for example:


The theme of fiction turning to reality is prevelant in the game, and many things hint to this. It's fantastic theming. However, Felix obviously states this in his 3 Heart event, after we see his creation come to life, and also in other plotlines depending on how the game is played (Viola comes to mind)
