Early Access Review
Throwback to gameplay-first games of yesteryear, particularly reminded me of Crimsonland.

A better time in gaming. Highly recommended. Price:Fun ratio is off the charts.

Below par gameplay, with nice music and interesting non-generic art.
As a Tower Defence game its way below even free Tower Defence custom maps from Warcraft III.

Maybe it is its PS3 heritage and nostalgia which gives it such a high rating on steam.

Also controller is recommended as that what the game was designed for. Makes it a more comfy relaxing experience.

Great breath of fresh air from your run of the mill AAA games.

Innovative traversal system, with a great art and fantastic music.

If you're feeling jaded from 100 Million+ AAA blockbusters give this a try.

Not even a finished game. More like a 24 hour game jam project. Why would anyone charge $4.99 for this. I agree with another reviewer that is is worth $0.49 at best.

I got this because procedural destruction is one of my favorite things, but this has gone beyond that to be one the best co-op games ever made.

Four classes all work in a synergistic way.

Gameplay loop is half zen mode mining, half repelling bug attacks a la Aliens.

Highly recommended even if you are playing without any friends, as the community is awesome and I've been having a blast since day 1 playing with randoms.

Really hope it wins the "Better with Friends" award this year.

2021 Edit: Developers still putting out amazing free updates. Game has more breadth than ever..

A semi-realistic shooter.

The perfect sweet spot between the accessibility/game design of more mainstream shooters and the autism of Mil-Sims.

Highly recommended.

Great WWII Shooter.

Insurgency gameplay, with era specific weapons, so less automatics and l33t tactical scopes. Highly recommended.

Pros
+Easy to pick up and play. simple yet satisfying controls.
+Gorgeous Pixel art graphics
+Amazing soundtrack
+Rougelite-lite. Dungeons have a randomness to them with regards to item drops and enemies.

Cons
-No cloud saves. I personally really care about this as I play games sporadically across a multitude of devices
-Ported from mobile, microtransactions were removed, but not perfectly balanced for a one-time pay model. There is a minor amount of grind left in the game, especially if you wan 100% completion/achievements

I really wish they would patch in steam cloud support, and include the soundtrack to the game with it. It really is awesome.

Overall what it does well, it does really well. And the cons are minor annoyances.

I'd recommend this game. I really enjoyed all the time I spent with it.

Its hard to thumbs down this game as its still a good game.

Its just that for an update to a classic its terrible. The original didnt look as good, but this update just ruins several key gameplay mechanics, while slapping a fresh coat of paint on it.

The reason everyone liked the original was because of the gameplay, even at its release the original was a pretty ugly looking game that played beautifully which is ultimately what matters.

Its pretty obvious that it has been dumbed down for a controller friendly playstyle

While this still has enough of the original in it to be a pretty good, fun game, honestly just play the original instead of this watered down version.

If the developers just added a "classic mode" toggle in the options which reverted the changes to the perks (specifically telekinesis), put perks back in campaign, basically an option to play a 100% faithful port of the real game with the new improved graphics (which I'm ambivalent on, its not really important for me.), I would gladly give it a thumbs up.

Edit (March 2016):

Well the devs delivered. They fixed every single thing I had a problem with.

Also they gave me what I really wanted all along: The original Crimsonland on Steam. And they gave it away for free as part of the deal along with the remake. I can finally play the original on steam, to add to the couple of hundred hours I have put into it over the years.

Now I can heartily recommend this game.
