TL;DR A pretty great game marred by a questionably outdated payment model. First few levels are entirely free, though, so try it out and then just subscribe once you hit level 6-8 ($15/mo base) if you're enjoying it enough. Community is also very nice in my experience, though rather bare. YMMV depending on what server you join.They really need to rethink their payment model in that many of the quests are piecemeal adventure packs that must be purchased along with the full expansions which themselves are quite pricey. However, they have given out a code multiple times now that permanently unlocks most/all of the small quest packs for an account and even without that a VIP subscription also gives you access to all of those adventure packs for the duration of your sub. Unfortunately, the DLCs are still horrendously expensive considering that a subscription is effectively mandatory.At the end of the day, though, I do really like the game and think it is worth at least the subscription cost while you're actively playing it but I do hope they'll realize the codes simply are not good enough and wise up to pretty much any other modern MMO's operational standard of entirely free up to level x or fully committing to having a base cost of $15-30 for everything.If you're unsure, the first few levels of content are free and there's a few free quests interspersed at various levels but if you don't find yourself really enjoying the game by level 8ish then I wouldn't bother sticking around because it turns into a Paid Divide of 1 quest that is free for the entirety of levels ~12-18 or something frankly stupid.
