This game is the best free to play shooter I've ever played. The gunplay and movement strike the perfect balance between realism and arcade shooters. The gameplay loop is very addicting, however there is a major flaw with the most difficult mode in the game known as "forbidden". Forbidden is meant to be an uncapped high risk/high reward mode(basically wear very expensive gear into the raid, and if you kill other players, loot, and extract you are highly rewarded, if you die and fail you lose your expensive gear). This makes perfect sense, except for the fact that in the current state of the game(as of 3/5/2026) the requirements to an individual player to enter forbidden are not high. Basically a loadout you could wear into normals(the beginners mode) or a loadout that is in the middle of lockdown standards(the intermediate mode) you could wear these lower-end loadouts into the forbidden mode. This has created a low risk high reward playstyle for many players(a.k.a "rats" or "tappers") where the incentive of entering forbidden with expensive gear equipped seems like too much of a risk for no reward when you defeat said "rats" or "tappers" as their gear is sometimes not even worth picking up in what is supposed to be the "highest risk/reward" game mode. In turn if you are killed by them they have made 10x their loadouts value in one kill if you brought expensive gear. Now if you're still reading this the biggest debated topic over the community in this game right now is red ammo. Red ammo is special sniper rifle bullets that you can craft in your hideout/base. And if your base is upgraded you can basically craft up to 180 of these bullets a day(yes 180 every 24 hours). These bullets are designed to basically one shot headshot anyone regardless of how powerful their helmet is(with a very low chance maybe 3% to survive one of these bullets), and because of this it has been a major reason why Forbidden game mode is the way it is now where players enter with a sniper rifle with two red bullets loaded into their 200k gun, and can put down someone wearing 3 million worth in gear. The geared player is not rewarded for killing the sniper and takes on all of the risk. The developers said going into the current season that the "data shows it's not a commonality to see red ammo users", yet 8/10 forbidden raids I run I encounter a red ammo user and when I watch the content creators of this game its the same thing. The player base is being lied to and they see the proof themselves when they play forbidden. Now all of this being said if you are a new player, play a lot of lockdown and learn the maps and angles, and you'll be addicted to this game. The game is squad play(4 man teams) so find a friend(or two) on the lfg discord or hit up your buddies to play the game with you and have a blast. Just beware after a couple hundred hours you will start to see the flaws, but by then you'll already be hooked. Also Voip is rumored to be coming and in my opinion with how fights take place on these maps, voip would just put this game over the top(barring the forbidden fixes).

Yes there are some ridiculous skins, cheaters(cheaters are in every shooter, and this anti cheat is really good) I maybe run into one every 40 raids, and you will have "dead" raids on normal and lockdown difficulty at times that have mostly AI players. But for the majority of players who play the game the biggest issue at the moment is forbidden rewarding red ammo players that risk little to nothing. If that is addressed then other issues may become more glaring, but there's so much going right for this game it's hard not to recommend it.

While I gave the game a thumbs up and it really does scratch almost every itch you'd want in a game(I played 35 hours in just 4 days), I'd rather list the major red flags that stood out to me as someone who's played various mmo's/seasonal games. If you want a detailed pros list this isn't that review.

1. All progress(battlepass, seasonal rewards, blueprints etc.) are tied to the server you progress on. My 20$ battlepass i bought was not account wide, only for the character i bought it on. Now for some that might not sound bad, but wait until you read the other cons.

2. Every server locks character creation based off of characters made, not active players, so if 1000 characters made is the cap and 950 of them quit after 1 week, no characters can be made on that server forever once that original cap is hit. If you look at the server list you'll notice this with the 14 pages of servers after the first page, they are character creation locked, but "low" population. Meaning the active player count is low, but since 1000 players decided to make a character on that realm it is locked permanently.

3. 6 week seasonal resets that are also "phases" in how much content is accessible on the map. Yes after 6 weeks of building up your base, farming mods to do end game content, and maxing out your gear, it is wiped. Yes you can retain some currencies, blueprints, and minor items to get a jump start on the next season, but for the way game is designed particularly the end game it just doesn't make sense to wipe out our progress,

4. EVERY SERVER IS ON ITS OWN TIMELINE. Notice how every server on the front page is new and high pop, those servers are all in week 1/phase 1, the servers on page 10,11,12 etc are in week 4/phase 4 of the season...
These new servers only have access to the phase 1 area of the map for the first week. There is not a weeks worth of content in that first area, yet these new servers keep coming out because after 2 days the 2 day old server is capped on character creation, but by the time week 2/phase 2 is accessible the majority of players have quit and the server becomes low activity. Just look at the server list, its a vicious cycle and it is a MAJOR red flag.

The game itself is amazing, but what I listed above takes it from an S+ type of game to a B- at best. If you want to log on twice a week and feel a player rich world, it will feel that way the first week of a new server, but after that it will become a ghost town because new players wont be able to create a character on said server to fill the void of the inactive players.

Such a major oversight in what could easily be game of the year.
