It took me a while to bite the bullet on this sequel, and I'm glad I came around to it in the end.

On the gameplay side, it has kept up and is still a joy to play, with the namesake somnia being the highlight of the game, all great and unique in approach. The english VA cast is still as impressive if not more, clearly at the top of the barrel for VN english dubbing. I'm probably going to grab the OST at some point.

What is more mixed and was the main reason of my hesitation is the general plot and character decisions. Honestly it hurts to say it because the amount of work and dedication that was poured to make it work must be enormous, but it just didn't feel as interesting, and at some point the yarn ball falls apart as you unravel it.

The characters had some great highlights and some less interesting ones, with a pretty disappointing villain.Tokiko is so much more interesting compared to Tearer, who felt like a victim seeing how he gets bodied so easily despite being built up as a mega threat. At least I had a good laugh making him dance.

It also suffered from a case of mcguffin eggs, where you'd have motivations and events happen to justify what justifies those to begin with, not really having a reason beyond "because it's needed to explain this".
On a more meta side, I wished we'd see the idea of glitching the world as more proactive in the story, with the idea of actually glitching the game as we're playing.

After weighing it all, the quality of the somnia and some highlight characters make me lean in favor that it's worth it despite the flaws. Remember to buy responsibly.
