Ibuki will start by saying she has been playing this gem since closed beta phase 2. Actual hours are close to 3,000 in game.

If you are new to this please disregard Balmung unless you want to be hit on by big black Rogs 24/7 while waiting for a queue to pop. Also Gilgamesh is for the elitists so Ibuki advises against this as well as it creates a bad experience for new players to get told how ♥♥♥♥ they are 24/7.

Now that that's out of the way, enjoy your opening scene filled with you stuck in the back of a cart/ship on your way to one of Eorzea's city states, which you pick based on your starting class. Along the way, you are introduced to a bunch of nobodies who become sombodies and then nobodies again when all is said and done. If you feel attached to a particular character, get ready to hate them as soon as the voice acting starts (even japanese dub is bad). Luckily this was rectified somewhat in the HW expansion as beginning with the first quest all NPCs save for a few have new VAs' that are actually british instead of the Sam Riegel and Liam O Brian being hammered into your ear for 3/4ths of the story.

When starting out at lvl 1 you will only have 1 skill to use in combat, as you level you'll get more and more skills and eventually your class will become very complex to manage, such as the case of Lancer to Dragoons. Once you get a feel for your class (around ilvl 200) and you've wiped to titans landslides or other easily avoidable AOEs and shouted "Lag" in the party chat at least 15 times, you will start to get the hang of prioritizing mechanics over moves. Being able to simultaneously DPS/Heal while a guy shouts THE EDGE IS CALLING TONIGHT and you're getting punched off the edge is truly an experience to behold.

If you are less combat focused and just want to fiddle the market with outdated gear so people have an excuse to use gil on something, then look no further then crafting. But unfortunately if you want to make any money off crafting you have to become an Omnicrafter which means getting every crafting class to 50 or 60 (if you like putting razer blades to your neck). The true end game for a crafter is crafting the newest glamour gear and selling them for millions of gil only to realize you have nothing worthwhile to buy and you go back to selling and making more of these things until a new patch comes out that does the same thing. With HW being an Omnicrafter is no longer necessary for the lvl 60 renditions however the new skills that were added in HW for crafters are just dumbed down versions of the other skills, which is bad. Gathering is also another avenue but theres no point in telling you about sitting for 2 hours trying to catch a fish with a green color instead of none.

Ibuki recommends this for the constant stream of content and the communication between the devs and the players despite being in different continents across the globe. This has problems atm but at least its not sitting there for almost 2 years with no new content added until the next expansion. As time has shown anything can be fixed in this game as long as Yoshi dedicates development towards it, which he is. My only complaints from 1.0 to ARR are the belts getting removed from the visual model of the character, Mi'qote asses being flattened out and lightning tiered for the sake of development costs, and the fact that when you turn around you instantly snap to ot the animation whereas 1.0 you actually turned around and moved realistically, also the cutscenes were far superior in 1.0. However everything else was Brendan Fraisered.

Oink!

Ibuki is an expert 3rd person. After all, how else would she see around corners without looking?
