Dear sweet lord where to begin, the game controls absolutely beautifully, I always feel like everything Im doing is what Im actually trying to input. Its wonderful both casually and as a speed game, you can easily beat everything in the game with your assortment of hats, your wallkicking, double jump and your dive and dive cancel. However the advanced movement options in this game lend it to also be run incredibly fast, sliding down hills to pick up speed, hitting the small window where you hit the ground and cancel your dive and shoot off with a burst of speed, the sprint hat and the level design, it all leads to wacky tricks and ways to navigate even the most seemingly linear levels. The music is absolutely captivating and has dominated my workout playlists for quite a while now, and most of the tracks in the game have official remixes that are just as excellent as the originals!! The characters are lovable and interesting and memorable, the conductor the snatcher and hat kid herself are very well ingrained in my mind. The graphics are good but not outstanding, they arent next gen crazy super realistic hyper textures, but it has that wonderful cell shaded charm that looks inviting and familiar, which does wonders combined with the games general atmosphere and charm. Howerver after updates there are still minor graphical glitches that can happen, and as said the graphics while they do have that nice appeal to them arent exactly anything new. The games length isnt all too loing in all honesty, I think my rushed playthorugh was maybe about 12 hours or so, but Ive since replayed the game and messed around with the community mods and tried speedrunning sections of the game, its just a genuienly fun time and I dont think Ive ever been happier with waiting for a game.
