WARNING: Darkest Dungeon is a great game that seriously lacks polish, and it can't be recommended without mods.

The fix:
1. Use the Steam Workshop to download the Gameplay Speed-Up Mods
2. Enable in main menu

Without speed-up mods, the game's pacing is simply insufferable.

Last tip: Don't get the DLC's immediately. They are meant for repeat playthroughs.
And, look up information online if the game confuses you. The game's bad at explaining a lot of stuff, and your enjoyement will be far greater if you just look it up.

With this in mind - Darkest Dungeon is an excellent title, it won me over in the end, and i can strongly recommend it with mods. I am very much looking forward to Darkest Dungeon 2, and hoping it corrects the issues i have with DD1, and finds a deeper way to develop the main gameplay cycle.
