When I first heard about Balatro, I thought it was a silly idea, and definitely not for me. Having seen a video or two about it, I changed my mind. Now some 30 hours later, I'm really enjoying the game. It plays well on the SteamDeck and my Desktop PC, although I'd appreciate some scaling options for my laptop.
I found a bit of a difficulty hump to start with, it was several days of trying (an hour or two at a time) between my first and second wins. Following the second win, I've found that I'm now exploring different builds and doing pretty well.
TLDR: Great deck game, and engaging game overall.

This is a fun strategy game so far; 6 hours in and I haven't finished my first run yet, so I guess it's going well.
I like the balance of resources, the tight balance on more mouths to feed vs more work done, and the way events keep you invested in the villagers.

I like the game, I think the concept is great, and I appreciate the environmental goals behind it. The issue is that there just isn't $25 worth of content here. I have 7 hours played, but realistically that's only ~4, since I got distracted by work for a few hours. Considering the first level was the Demo, that only really leaves 3 new levels, and then 4 variations on the original levels. I don't expect to be paying $3 an hour for a game, considering the great value proposition that other games offer. Unfortunately, it's just long enough to get you past the 2 hour refund window, or I think I would have refunded this and picked it up on sale down the line.
