This game RULES. It's extremely fun.

I'm not a roguelite person, a deckbuilder expert or anything like that, so that's where I'm coming from, but from a casual playing perspective, the progression from dungeon to dungeon in the main story is fantastic. Let me explain how it goes.

Every dungeon introduces a new mechanic or a new wrinkle to the game, and you get a starting deck and a pool of card drops focused on that mechanic. There's of course some leeway to how you build your deck, but basically the game forces you to learn the new mechanic, to find strats, setups and sinergies between your muses and your cards. So there's a lot of variety and the game stays fresh throughout. Damage values can balloon and get really crazy, and not only does it feel great to get there but you'll want to aim for that because the game rewards you for taking as few turns as possible clearing the dungeons.

If you're a fan of other Inti Creates games, you'll probably love the way card effects represent the characters and the games they reference. For example, the way Gunvolt and Copen cards "tag" the enemies and how they translate the idea of Copen dashing around and delivering a high damage finisher. It's all great stuff.

And those card effects and flavor text really add a LOT of personality to the characters from the made up games too! To the point that I'd really like to play those games if they actually made them, like they did with Flamefrit. GrimmNoir is very intriguing, I love that little guy Connecle, TACTICAL COMMUNICATION is a crazy concept, and Triangle Meister sounds like trashy, silly fun. Like, if there's one thing that disappointed me is that there aren't dungeons for some of these games, and some even have sequels that are super interesting! Hopefully there's room for them in a Card-en-Ciel sequel down the line.
