Early Access Review
this is my dream game and also simultaneously the last game i want to play

it's my dream game bc i was searching for a co op non pvp game with proximity voice chat with good sound design that focuses on making you feel immersed and doing relatively simple things

the problem? it's in the one genre i HATE playing games in; horror

so basically i'm playing this game but also scared 24/7 and internally crying but i can't stop bc this is exactly what i wanted but also... i'm scared.

that being said it's perfect in every way, i love it. really ticks so many boxes for what i want from a game.

the sound design especially is so good that it makes you forget the game looks like ps1 graphics

def worth getting for the mods alone, the absolute amount of content you get out of this package once you consider mods is insane. i personally think no matter how far i go, i'll always have a reason to come back to assetto corsa, in some ways i'd say it's one of those you need in your collection (for sim racing in this context) even if it's not the best, it will always have things you can do really well in it, the range is insane. also it goes really cheap so that's a plus too (do get the ultimate edition though, most servers need content from these dlcs)

genuinely one of the best games to play, especially if you're lonely like me and don't have friends to play with. while i'm sure this is even better with friends, the fact that the game requires people to cooperate to do ♥♥♥♥ in this game means your'e either going to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because you can't find good teammates or you'll have a lot of fun interacting with strangers. somehow, by some miracle, you'll find a lot of situations where it's the latter. honestly not a lot of games makes playing with strangers fun, they usually just disconnected you with others so you can have fun by yourself but this game somehow manages to do it.

that being said, i am a massive ♥♥♥♥♥ and too scared to play this game which is why i've only played it for a few hours i get scared playing it

tf2 is easily one of my favourite games ever, some people say it has a weird learning curve but imo that has more to do with mastering the game and finding out the mechnics but just to play the game itself, it's kind of easy to pick up and play and figure out the basics, because what it lacks in user friendliness, is easily made up for by the amazing community the game has.

there's a lot of things that make tf2 iconic really, it would be hard to point out what it is specifically but i think everyone has something they love most about the game, i personally love the people on this game, the people that make things for the game, make videos and stuff related to it and most importantly, the people that you'll find while playing this game, i've had so many heartwarming moments in this game so far.

the game is solid as a game itself too, it's so satisfying and fun to play, it's like white noise in a song for me, the gameplay isn't flashy, it's subtle but it makes for such a curiously brilliant game.

2022 edit: after having played this game for a good while more and also having taken a long break from it and playing it again recenlty, i sort of found some flaws i woudln't have admitted to earlier.

while this game is amazing at base, valve really needs to pay some attention to it. i don't want a content update, i want some ease of life changes, the bot problem being the first but also things like the ui having issues and feeling clunky sometimes (due to age no doubt) and also the general experience for a new player. this game definitely feels very unintuitive at first and needs to guide new players better, it's like this game gets good AFTER you get through figuring out the way to actually get started.

other than that, the community. when it comes to just playing the game they can be fun but there's also a serious amount of toxicity, especially against lgbt people and stuff. i think a lot of this comes from the community trying to be as carefree as humanly possible and back in 2019 i didn't think of this as a problem because "well you're here to play the game so their opinions shouldn't matter" and while i still do think it goes with that somewhat, i can also imagine how disheartening it must be to play this game as an lgbt person seeing people constantly make jokes against the community. it's definitely something that isn't the games fault but is also something that comes up as a problem.

other than that, it's still a solid game and i'd still recommend it to anyone who wants to try it out, just watch a guide on setting tf2 up since the default setting suck and try to take people as casually as you can because they can get pretty offensive at times, if you can get through that, there's definitely a lot of fun to be had here
