Very much like Fantasy Grounds Classic. Plenty of licensed TTRPG content, and two licensing options at two different levels for the core program. Game masters and players have similar requirements as they do with Fantasy Grounds Classic where investment level is concerned.

This build has native features not present in Fantasy Grounds Classic, some of which may still need improvement given certain scenarios.

Overall, I would say this game is certainly an interesting concept. Game play itself seems to be well-executed.

With the recent major update, some mechanics were refactored. This helps bring the learning curve away from the original exponential climb. Those new to the game's primary genera still have a somewhat challenging climb. Good to grow some puzzle-solving skills.

Early Access Review
A great budget option if you're looking to make maps for a VTT application that does not have native map making support.

This game is good, if you're up for some mindless killing.

This game is good, if you enjoy multiple mobility options.
This game is bad, if you mind grinding.

Words and non-words; tame to vulgar, and maybe well into left field. Expand and practice your vocabulary. Cycle through the quotes at the end of a round to see funnier or more unusual quotes. The blue words are the ones you played.

Important notice: This review version is no longer supported.

If you're not used to playing table top RPGS, the price tag on the base license may seem indimidating at first. It is about what you would pay when purchasing one or two books in any given rule set.

Here is what you get with the base license:
  • The ability to connect to any paid license able to host a game.
  • The ability to host any paid license.
  • 3.5E rule set with enough open game content to host.
  • 4E character sheet and one game module.
  • 5E character sheet and basic rules.
  • The core of the d20 rules (CoreRPG).
  • Fate Core SRD "book" and character sheet
  • Numenera character sheet
  • Pathfinder rule set with enough open game content to host.
  • A default selection of tokens
  • A default selection of portraits

This does not mean you cannot connect to someone hosting one of the other supported rule sets--or a custom one for that matter. The game masters can and will share the game-specific player content. Thus, only the game masters may actually need to purchase additional content, depending on what they choose to host.

Overall, my opinion is that the utility far outweighs the price.

The combat side of this game has a learning curve, and will repeatedly put your tactical ability to the test.

There is a limited character inventory, and you might find yourself buying additional character cards to cope with all the items you want to keep.

Need a break from combat? Explore the life skills. Your effectiveness on the battlefield should benefit slightly.

Dedicated role players are welcome to the game, too. There are groups within the overall game community who support role players new and experienced. Two of these groups can be found on the Tarlach server.
