It takes A LOT to make me finish a platformer, but this one was just too adorable. I bought it because it was so old that it cost next to nothing on a sale. If you don't suck as much at platforming as I do, this game is definitely worth more than its current full price.

In the beginning, while gameplay wasn't too much of an obstacle for me, I really enjoyed it. Letting little Marvin explore snowy landscapes, draw wild animals and have a good time like only a young child can, then be called home by mom and dream about his adventures before hurrying out again through new shortcuts the next day. It's up there with the newer Alba: A Wildlife Adventure in capturing happy little childhood adventures.
The wintery visuals are nice and atmospheric, the story is wholesome, and the soundtrack is fantastic. The only thing I would have liked to see added is an option to dig that poor little skier out of the snow instead of leaving them stuck with their legs thrashing around in the air.

The difficulty does ramp up though, with longer series of jumps without any kind of checkpoint or save, and later even slippery ice surfaces. No problem for players that aren't terribly clumsy I'm sure, but I found it very frustrating in some places and other reviewers pointed out their younger children needed help.
If it weren't for the two most annoying platforming sections where I missed a jump, fell all the way down and had to repeat over and over AND OVER etc. I wouldn't hesitate to add this game to my favourites. I even went around to collect the magic snowflakes and explore hidden areas that I'd overlooked after finishing the main story, which was a bit more fun again now that I'd learnt to get through the difficult parts reasonably well. My playtime includes one full playthrough with a ridiculous amount of failed jumps, another round for all the snowflakes, 10/11 animal sketches and a bit of idling.

If you're looking for a wholesome wintery adventure and don't mind the platforming, this is a real treat.

I get it tbh. If I'd had an interruption from the game and not been in the middle of how cute it was, Idk if I would have come back for some of that platforming XD

Thanks for the review anyway!

Nah. I have enough other games to play. I mainly bought it because it was cheap. I don't play a ton of platformers and the jumps are frustrating. I thought it looked cute but it isn't worth the trouble. Threre's maybe a setting to gt rid of the zooming but I wasn't invested enough to look for it.

Ouch :/ It didn't do that for me (obviously). It booted in windowed mode though, and the Steam pop-ups I got while playing in fullscreen (about friends playing games) looked suspiciously big so I guess everything was zoomed to fill out the screen that's larger than a 2014 one?
Doesn't look like the dev team's accounts have been active anywhere in a long time, but if you can borrow a different (maybe smaller/older?) screen then that might be worth a try.

I tried to play it but the screen zooms in and out compulsively and shifts around. I got motion sickness almost instantly.
