Introduction
Warframe has its roots entangled in Digital Extreme's first game, Dark Sector, which (much like its successor) played as a science-fiction-styled, third-person shooter with stealth elements influenced by the Metal Gear Solid series.

As the player, you take control of a Tenno, a member of an ancient and mysterious warrior race from the Orokin era of Earth, who've recently been awoken from a cryopod. While you retain no memory of your past life on Earth, your combat skills have not dwindled, which you apply throughout various missions, like for example interception, espionage, sabotage, defense and extermination where you battle factions such as the greedy Corpus and the brutish Grineer - at the direction of an enigmatic entity who presents herself as the Lotus.

Warframes, weapons, mods and currency
You're also in the possession of a battlesuit, designated Warframe, which enhances your character's potential i.e. your maneuvers, shields and abilities. Your warframe can be further augmented by mods (special cards that boost stats, present utilities and change abilities), or you can acquire new warframes altogether by either crafting them at the Foundry (requiring certain resources and blueprints) or buying them in a complete state from the Market, using either in-game currency (credits) or real-world money (platinum). You can combine your warframe with any weapon you see fit, granting you an ease of mind playing at your own comfort, and you can even bring lower-level weapons with your superior warframe and other equipment in order to improve them, letting them gain affinity (experience points).

Mods aren't just limited to warframes either; you can apply them to a plethora of other marvels such as weapons, companions, archwings and K-drives. Mods can be further developed by the use of an in-game currency known as Endo, which is inserted into the item's mod slot. It is obtained through drops of dead enemies as well as completing different missions. Almost any warframe and weapon that you initially obtain is meager, starting at Mastery Rank 0, which ultimately reaches Mastey Rank 30, allowing you to assert more mods in order to refine your equipment. It is important to apply the right mods to the right equipment, because each enemy faction have special units with their own distinct strengths and weaknesses, where hitting the right spot with the right tool is essential. However, you always have time to prepare as the game briefs you on what faction you're going to go up against.

Otherwise there is a lot of grinding for getting better equipment, and the things that you can buy at the Market are all accessible through grinding. Hence paying only speeds up the process, and is not directly considered ''pay to win''.

PvE and PvP
The majority of the game's PvE content by far outweighs what almost seems to be a desperate, almost feeble attempt at diversion to PvP. I'm going to be covering mostly the PvP aspect given that most players tend to overlook or not be particularly enthusiastic about it (for reasons such as unfair matchmaking resulting in getting pitted up against more experienced players). PvP occurs through duelling, Solar Raid Conflicts as well as accepting missions from the Conclave, which consists of a multitude of gamemodes (annihilation, team annihilation, cephalon capture and lunaro). In a duel, two players engage in battle with one another in a player-designed dueling room within the Clan Dojo; the station for a clan. Wheras Solar Raid Conflicts enables for larger-scale battles between warring clans or alliances, with a total of eight players (four on each team, woow), where one team defends the Solar Rail (a peculiar device that grants players access to missions in the Dark Sector) which the other team attempts to wreck.

While PvP merely consists of two different gamemodes (six including the Conclave missions), PvE has an abundance of options available (some of which I stated in the introduction), with a total of 21 missions available, each with a possible situational occurence - namely a challenge independent from the mission objective. There are also eight different special missions available that require a certain node depending on the mission in order to be playable. PvE missions can be played solo or with a team of up to four players.

At the end of each mission, there is a summary that shows you just how well or poorly you performed, showcasing statistics such as how much damage you dealt and took, your total number of kills and deaths etc. If you fail the mission, however, you will only be witness to how much affinity and focus points your equipment earned, and overall team stats. Focus points are converted from a certain amount of affinity from a Mastery Rank 30 item, using a Focus Lens. The points are eventually spent unlocking and upgrading focus abilities (which grants and enhances you with various passive powers) within a skill tree.

Is it worth playing?
In conclusion: no. ARK: Survival Evolved is a much superior game which I'd much rather spend my leisure time playing. Why should I waste my focus on a fast-paced, space ninja adventure, dodging bullets like I'm Neo from The Matrix, when I can tame a dodo as well as eat my own feces? Ridicilous, not even a contest.
