This feels like some indy-devs first TD, but despite lack of progression and complete lack of tower options it's quite nice albeit casual.

Things like the level-menu stands out as particularly bad, but doesn't really matter. I'm guessing assets come from kenney.nl or similar. Of the 3 towers one is useless, so tower options are really lacking.

Wave balance and pacing is good and you have something to do most of the time.
Levels feel very similar to each other, but if you only play a few levels each day it won't wear you down.

It's enjoyable and the 40 levels will last you a while, so maybe it's worth $3, or so I think! (probably not more...)

Sorry, I didn't like it very much even though aesthetics are nice and clearly some effort has been put into it.

Biggest problems are level balancing and pacing. Devs needs to do some dogfooding and play through their own game start to finish, because those are not subtle problems. Music and sounds are pretty bad (listen to the trailer above). Hover-to-pickup-resources mechanics are awful and the coin-rain is like closing popups on windows 95. Scaling-problems are bad.

Even if you like TD's you probably should wait for 60%-90% discounts or until the game has been improved.

Nice first impression. Moving around in the world is very smooth and nothing you'd expect from a puzzler. Puzzles are a bit hit or miss and there are way too many of some. I'll return when there are achievement points.

It's alright. I don't enjoy it as much as other survivors-clones, but maybe it can be boiled down to having played
too many and too much of them. If I have to point at one thing, its probably that the grind is very "in-your-face", and getting a few leafs a run feels slow. Not every game has to be a forever game D:.

Still, thumbs up.

At first I felt this game is a poor attempt to clone Dungeon Warfare. It BEGS to be compared to that game. At first, pretty much every single mechanic you see exists in that game - but in Guardians of Holme the implementation is inferior.

Later when you have seen more of the rogue elements, and the slay-the-spire-like level selection and relics, I still feel Dungeon Warfare is a much better game, but at least now I don't think the games are that much alike.

I have now forgiven Guardians of Holme for it shortcomings; It can stand on it's own legs. A complete run takes forever, balance goes from too easy and spikes into impossible. Keyboard shortcuts are missing. Sprites are often stretched, and the mismatch of mixed sizes (borders/shadows) is jarring. The campaign pacing is too slow and the grinding required is overwhelming.

I know I have mostly bad things to say, but I still think it's a nice game. 7/10 in my book.

It's not that expensive to begin with, and if you get it at 50%, I think it's a bargain.

Nice game. While in Early Access, I consider it complete.

Don't chase the 100% nodes achievements, you will lose your soul. I gave up after first, and I'm so done w this game, never again :D. Still, it was a nice run.

Plays great on the steam deck.

Survivors-like in space, a bit too grindy but all in all good.

I wouldn't say the game is full of bugs, but it sure has it quirks!

It's ugly. Ui is super-clunky and menus are bad. Music is on a short repeating loop. Online server seems to be completely unnecessary. Hi-scores or whatever is fine but the 'connecting to server' when going between game screens is dreadful. Ui-borders are stretched as if someones grandma is doing photo-editing in word. Animations are jerky and some spell visuals seems to be missing. Tower balance seems to be off.

I think my favorite pet peeve is how tower-building-menus gets cropped by screen edges, so you have to drag the whole map up, build/upgrade tower and drag back. Or how you can scrollwheel-zoom out and then in again, with the cursor in the same spot and you always end up somewhere different. Or you cant click the speed-up button without scrolling the game upwards... The list is long!

Despite all that and more, the game is functional and pretty fun.
