My journey with electronic games began in 1999, when I was still a young entrepreneur living in Belém do Pará, Brazil. Together with a business partner, I opened my first company: Cyber Space Jogos em Rede, one of the early LAN gaming centers in the city.

Running a LAN center meant learning everything I could about computers, networks and games. That was how I discovered Half-Life and, soon afterward, Counter-Strike. Over the following years, I experienced the transition from the early versions of CS to 1.5 and eventually 1.6. That was the beginning of my lifelong passion for Counter-Strike.

At Cyber Space, we organized all-night gaming sessions, local tournaments and regional competitions connected to events such as the WCG, ESL and ESWC. I also worked as tournament staff, esports commentator and contributor for gaming websites. At that time, Counter-Strike was much more than a hobby to me—it was my work, my community and a major part of my life.

Our LAN center helped bring players together and contributed to the growth of the competitive gaming scene in Belém. Many young players passed through Cyber Space. One of them was Jerry, later known in the Counter-Strike community as kNgV-, or simply “King.”

Cyber Space closed its doors in 2007 as home internet and computers became more accessible. Even after that chapter ended, I continued working with WCG and ESWC events and contributing as a commentator and gaming journalist for websites dedicated to Counter-Strike 1.6.

Those early experiences helped shape the person and professional I am today. Working with esports, journalism and live commentary developed the communication skills that eventually led me to a career in media and audiovisual production.

Today, I live in Curitiba and still play Counter-Strike for fun. I am not a professional player—so yes, I am a noob now! But my connection with the game goes far beyond rankings.

Now you know my story.

Kraft — playing Counter-Strike since the early days.
