I can't stop playing this game. The story intrigues me, the gameplay is great fun, Piper is awesome, the progression and customization for your character has made it possible for me to play through the story multiple times and still enjoy it and find something new. I am not the biggest fan of apocalyptic games, which has kept me from the fallout franchise in the past, but I decided to buy this almost a year after it first was released and now I'm angry at myself for not buying it sooner. Everyone I have recommended it to in person has enjoyed it, so I figured I would give my recommendation here as well. I can't see anything major to fault this game for, and it seems like a lot of the negative reviews are due to unobtainable expectations that resulted from hype, which I havent experienced since I only bought it on a whim when I saw it in the store. I wish the dialogue options were more descriptive, as I've told off people who I meant to praise due to vague descriptions, and the power armor system feels a bit too linear; it would've been nice to have armor with different bonuses, but instead there is a definite best power armor set and all of my other power armors just rust. Those two minor flaws are all I can think of, I love every part of this game. The variety of guns and modifications, the variety of playstyles, the story that sucks you in, the companions (mostly Piper), and the huge map and everything that I still have to discover are some of the reasons that I wholeheartedly recommend this game. Good luck saving the commonwealth, and Ad Victoriam, soldier.

Before AOE3: Complete Collection, I played a disc copy of AOE3 itself. I tried for two years to beat the expert AI, working my way up to hard AI, then stopped playing because i had played the game into the ground, and believed I would never pick it up again.
Years later, I once again find AOE3, conveniently on sale at the time, except it is on steam, and has two expansions that I have never heard of. I pick the game up, and easily defeat the hard AI, as my skills are ingrained into my very soul. Confidently, I decide to try expert, but not alone, as I prefer teams. So, I get on AOE online, and play my heart out against expert AIs, 2v2, 3v4, 4v4, all kinds of fights. I lose every single one of them. 170 hours in, I finally defeat an expert computer, when in a 4v4 fight, after having my economy and the economy of 2 of my allies utterly ruined and having nothing but a town center, villagers, and some barracks, I began spamming the cheapest but worst unit in the game to supplement the armies of that one player who boomed and did not care at all if his allies died (there is always one of them). We won because the AI doesnt ever keep defensive units in its base.
420/10 would train 150 pikemen again.
