This has been updated to reflect Muse Plus's introduction.

Pros
Cute anime-style girls with various abilities
Eclectic mix of predominantly Japanese and Chinese anime-style tunes
Simple to pick up; hard to master
Base game has an attractively low price for the amount of content

Cons
...but the DLC price, despite being an almost one-time affair, is a ridiculously pricey one
English translations occasionally feel a bit janky

Yes, I'm fully aware that the DLC allows you access to all future songs for life (except for special collab songs like the Miku ones, which require a separate purchase); I just dislike that it has to be paid in one go. I would greatly prefer multiple DLC song packs instead, as it's far more easier personally to cough up overall more money over the next months for more songs rather than a one-time purchase with a hefty magnitude.

But gripes regarding that aside, Muse Dash is actually a remarkably competent two-button rhythm game. Although there's a slight mobile feel, the game itself is pretty simple to pick up; getting the timing windows and button hits right is a different matter. The art style is gorgeous and cheery, the girls' ... assets jiggle, and the songs can get pretty catchy.

When to buy
For a game that was initially released on mobile, $3 is pretty cheap, and you still get a decent amount of songs with it. The DLC buy-in is far pricier.
