I'll probably write a more in-depth review in the future, but for now I'll just say that I'm really enjoying my time with Dead Cells. So far I've found the difficultly to be hard but fair. it's all about experimenting with weapons and abilities that suit your play-style. Controls are tight and responsive and the music's good. Yeah, future me will (hopefully) write something better.

Normally, I'm a bit weary of remasters as they're usually bare-bones but this game goes above and beyond what a remaster should strive for. I just might play through the game again just for see what actually changed. (Originally played the older PC version that on sale here on Steam and the N64 version) I also might actually write an actual review after, assuming I don't forget. Would I recommend? Yes.

I wish there was a "Meh" or "Maybe" rating. I'm not saying it's a bad game by any means (it's faithful to the originals) it has some issues. Maybe a little Pro and Con will help huh?

Pros:

-Runs smooth as butter in-game, little to no slowdown at all even on my crap computer with settings on high.

-Graphics options aren't as intensive as most PC games are but the fact you can actually disable things like Bloom and Motion Blur are huge pluses in my book. Frame rate can go from 30 all the way to unlimited.

-Controls are responsive and you can switch between controller and Keyboard and mouse while playing instantly.

-The remixed music is great in some places but sometimes misses the mark with some songs. Having the ability to switch to the original soundtrack was an unexpected surprise though.

-You can use Sparx's gem locator ability from the get-go and is very useful for people who haven't played the games before. And it works in Spyro 1, if you really need it there.

-Highly moddable (mod-able?). There are already mods for the Spyro's PS1 look. Who knows, maybe we'll get some new levels and hub worlds thanks to modders.

Cons:

-High uncapped framerates tend to break the game somewhat, broken flame animations and what seems like Spyro sliding as if he's on ice are the most common. I only experienced the former, but not the latter shockingly.

-For some odd reason, Spyro jumps higher at 30fps. This makes some jumps difficult as you need the extra height. Spyro 1 is the most affected as you don't have the hover jump from the other games.

-Spyro 3 seems to be a lot more buggy compared to the other games for some reason. I've gotten stuck in a NPC just by jumping around it and some spots have really odd collision.

I wish I could go into more depth on the pros and cons but we would be here all day. All in all, a good remaster of three PS1 classics but falls short due to weird bugs that should've been caught during testing. Would I recommend? Definitely, yes. Would I recommend the PC version? If you're willing to deal with some of the issues described above, yes. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting one of the console versions. I hope this has been helpful.

Edit: Well, I guess I'm an idiot. The whole "loading slow from Hub world to level" thing was purely on my end, turns out it was my CPU. I'll just remove that bit from the list of cons. Also, formatting and grammar fixes in general.

This is what Sonic 4 should have been in the first place. Good level design, excellent music, and multiple characters with their unique abilities make this a game you keep wanting to come back to.

It's about driving trucks, you'd think it would be boring. I'm pleasantly surprised how fun and relaxing this game is.
