My friend persuaded me to buy this game on sale and join her in playing it. I am a newbie, with limited experience in cooking games, aside from a few brief interactions with different mobile games, flash games on websites, and on Discord activities. It's a cooperative game, playable both locally and online with up to four players. As I played with just one person, I missed out on the excitement that comes from having a full team of four players.

The game is quite simple and direct. The objective is to complete a 15-day run, and you can choose map layouts that include a kitchen and a dining room. You pick recipes for your restaurant, unlocking and purchasing more as you progress (the details of progression are unknown to me as my friend didn't explain). The easiest recipe, by the way, is a salad! Once the game starts, you and your team take orders, cut, cook, and assemble food, serving them to customers with limited patience timers before they run out. You're also in charge of your own dishes and cleanup, including wiping the floor of the messes customers make so you don't get slowed down or spread the mess as you move through it. You repeat this process for as long as you can manage. However, it might not be for long because between days, you spend your profits on items and appliances that upgrade your restaurant and make your job easier. You also occasionally have to choose between two cards which is often a trap that leads to your cook (your friend) yelling at you for failing to serve customers on time! Despite my advice to my friend not to take sides, she doesn't listen, and we always end up losing and starting over. Sides are pure sabotage in this game! Every aspect demands cooperation and communication with your kitchen staff (in my case, my friend who always yells at me if I try to communicate or ask a question) - deciding where the sink should go, who handles the dishes and clears plates, who is working on recipes, and whether you can afford to splurge on a Roomba for spills or a calming painting that grants extra patience to your fast and furious customers.

I used a keyboard while my friend had an advantage using a controller and hosting the game with low latency. Meanwhile, I struggled with occasional ping issues. Despite this, she insists I'm too slow for the game! The one feature I really wish the game had is the option to choose a multiplayer server with low latency to eliminate the unplayable lag and constant yelling from my friend.

If you have one to three friends, appreciate creative restaurant names, enjoy micromanagement, and aren't afraid of failure, consider adding Plateup! to your collection, especially during sale (currently 50%) oh and be cautious of those mysterious puddles customers leave on the floor. I'm uncertain about their contents, but judging by the sound effects, it can't be anything good! :))
