Overall, I think it's alright. they could've done better but it's not awful. It's mostly just classic PvZ with some QoL improvements and a couple of new things. I haven't ran into many of the bugs I've seen others complain about and I've only had the game crash once on my Steam Deck. It works better on my Steam Deck than the original with it having better controls which is a plus.
However I do not agree with how they have used AI upscaling for the assets, being misleading about some concept art, and how they messed up the music. I really think they should tried to get some of the original team back to work on this especially since Rich Werner did reach out to them if I remember correctly. I really hope that they fix the bugs people are running into, fix the art and music, maybe add online multiplayer (or at least steam remote play), and possibly add more extra stuff to the game some areas feel lackluster but have space for improvement.
