Poor choice from Valve to put the Summer 2023 release date on themselves. Every match I'm in, someone has connection issues, resulting in a technical timeout.

Further, the matchmaking system rarely if ever produces a balanced match, and the game is still a barren wasteland in for gamemodes. Go play something that constitutes a real game rather than a half-baked release until arms race is finally here.

Best money ever spent.

You will die. You will get picked off by the some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laying down across the hill pretending to be an LMG with a 4x ACOG on an AK on a bipod. Your lips will kiss many RPGs. You will not be far away enough from whatever explosion goes off near you. The thunder of mortars will give you tinnitus. You will feel the impulse to run for cover when you hear helicopters IRL. Your teammates will shoot you in the face. You will not get backup when you're trying to cap that point. The sound of a grenade hitting the floor nearby will make your sphincter clench. The screams of burning hostiles will haunt your dreams. There will be very distinct sound when the bullet hits your head. You will cough as you push through the smoke. You will get picked off by some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laying down in the point with an actual LMG. You will receive free content and bugfix updates for years to come.

Insurgency is a fantastic shooter. The gunplay feels tight and deadly. Hostiles, and you, will easily drop with three, two or even one hits to the center of mass. The game doesn't hold your hand while you're dropping hostiles though; Ammo is limited and the guns work like real ones do. You need to not only watch how much ammo you have, but the amount of ammo you have in your individual magazines. There's no mini-map or radar, you'll have to pull up the full map with leaderboard if you want to take a look at that. The most the HUD features to help you orient yourself is a compass. And you'll want to orient yourself. Your best chance at locating and spotting enemies if they are shooting at you from a concealed position is generally muzzle flash and the direction of the sound. (Which you can wonderfully in this game, NWI is a master of sound design.) Of course, if the hostile has a flash hider, or worse, a suppressor, your best options are to pray that your friendly snipers are halfway competent.

You should buy this game and you should play a lot of it. It's the bees knees and the donkeys honkey.
